Pyruvate kinase type M2: a crossroad in the tumor metabolome.

Cell proliferation is a process that consumes large amounts of energy. A reduction in the nutrient supply can lead to cell death by ATP depletion, if cell proliferation is not limited. A key sensor for this regulation is the glycolytic enzyme pyruvate kinase, which determines whether glucose carbons are channelled to synthetic processes or used for glycolytic energy production. In unicellular organisms pyruvate kinase is regulated by ATP, ADP and AMP, by ribose 5-P, the precursor of the nucleic acid synthesis, and by the glycolytic intermediate fructose 1,6-P2 (FBP), thereby adapting cell proliferation to nutrient supply. A Comprehensive Mechanism Reproducing the Mass and Mixing Parameters of Quarks and Leptons

It is shown that if, from the starting point of a universal rank-one mass matrix long favored by phenomenologists, one adds the assumption that it rotates (changes its orientation in generation space) with changing scale, one can reproduce, in terms of only six real parameters, all the 16 mass ratios and mixing parameters of quarks and leptons. Of these 16 quantities so reproduced, 10 for which data exist for direct comparison (i.e. the CKM elements including the CP-violating phase, the angles theta(12), theta(13), theta(23) in nu-oscillation, and the masses m(c), m(mu), m(e)) agree well with experiment, mostly to within experimental errors; four others (m(s), m(u), m(d), m(nu 2)), the expe…

The Cabibbo angle as a universal seed for quark and lepton mixings

A model-independent ansatz to describe lepton and quark mixing in a unified way is suggested based upon the Cabibbo angle. In our framework neutrinos mix in a "Bi-Large" fashion, while the charged leptons mix as the "down-type" quarks do. In addition to the standard Wolfenstein parameters (lambda, A) two other free parameters are needed to specify the physical lepton mixing matrix. Through this simple assumption one makes specific predictions for the atmospheric angle as well as leptonic CP violation in good agreement with current observations.

High scale mixing relations as a natural explanation for large neutrino mixing

The origin of small mixing among the quarks and a large mixing among the neutrinos has been an open question in particle physics. In order to answer this question, we postulate general relations among the quarks and the leptonic mixing angles at a high scale, which could be the scale of Grand Unified Theories. The central idea of these relations is that the quark and the leptonic mixing angles can be unified at some high scale either due to some quark-lepton symmetry or some other underlying mechanism and as a consequence, the mixing angles of the leptonic sector are proportional to that of the quark sector. Unraveling the kinetics and molecular mechanism of gas phase pyrolysis of cubane to [8]annulene

The kinetic and electron density flows are studied theoretically for the gas phase pyrolysis of cubane via its cage opening to reach bicyclooctatriene and then thermal rearrangement of bicyclooctatriene to produce [8]annulene which is the experimentally observed major product. The observed kinetic data at the MN15-L/maug-cc-pVTZ level of theory were in good agreement with the experimental results as compared to the CBS-QB3 method. The cage opening and the thermal rearrangement steps at the experimentally employed temperature of 520 K were exergonic and exothermic. Darba mērķis ir noskaidrot, kā atpazīt “catfishinga” manipulāciju formas, kā ar tām cīnīties un saprast, kādi ir šādas darbības galvenie nolūki. Darbā tiek apskatīts amerikāņu realitātes šovs “The Circle” 2. sezona un tā auditorija. Mērķa sasniegšanai tika izmantota teorētiskā literatūra un izvirzītās pētniecības metodes. Teorētiskajā daļā ir aplūkota mediju lietojuma un apmierinājuma teorija, realitātes šova žanrs, mediju auditorija, seriāls “The Circle” un “catfishings”. Pētījuma veikšanai tika izmantotas divas metodes – interneta aptauja un strukturētā/daļēji strukturētā intervija.
