Ontology-based Integration of Web Navigation for Dynamic User Profiling
2015
The development of technology for handling information on a Big Data-scale is a buzzing topic of current research. Indeed, improved techniques for knowledge discovery are crucial for scientific and economic exploitation of large-scale raw data. In research collaboration with an industrial actor, we explore the applicability of ontology-based knowledge extraction and representation for today's biggest source of large-scale data, the Web. The goal is to develop a profiling application, based on the implicit information that every user leaves while navigating the online, with the goal to identify and model preferences and interests in a detailed user profile. This includes the identification o…
Information indexing and recommendation : toward a precise description if items by an ontological approach based on business domain modeling : applic…
2015
Effective management of large amounts of information has become a challenge increasinglyimportant for information systems. Everyday, new information sources emerge on the web. Someonecan easily find what he wants if (s)he seeks an article, a video or a specific artist. However,it becomes quite difficult, even impossible, to have an exploratory approach to discover newcontent. Recommender systems are software tools that aim to assist humans to deal withinformation overload. The work presented in this Phd thesis proposes an architecture for efficientrecommendation of news. In this document, we propose an architecture for efficient recommendationof news articles. Our ontological approach relie…
HiGeoMes: Distributed Geodatabases in an archaeological joint research project
2013
International audience; The project 'HiGeoMes' seeks to connect knowledge about archaeological sites in the Near East with place names in ancient sources of the 2nd millennium BC. The paper describes the digital approach to integrate textual and geographical information by emphasizing the impact of interfaces linking diverse datasets. Several OGC-based Web services provide reviewed archaeological information in a Web GIS with query capabilities. Place-related philological data are stored in an OWL-store to model the topological relations of unidentified sites. An interface integrates a graph-viewer with the Web GIS by invoking both WFS- and REST-services to spatially integrate the datasets.…
Spatial Rules through Spatial Rule built-ins in SWRL
2010
International audience; The paper presents a method to include spatial rule within rule languages like SWRL to infer spatial rules within semantic web framework. The concept presented here could benefit both geospatial community as they benefit using the adjusted knowledge base to infer spatial rule and semantic web community as the inclusion of spatial data in its framework
Semantics knowledge management for the 3D architectural reconstruction of building objects
2010
International audience; This paper presents the framework of an ongoing semantics knowledge management practice. The practice combines geometrical analysis of point cloud and semantic rules to detect 3D building objects for the purpose of achieving computational correctness and efficiency. We assume that improvement in the form of well organized classification (CLA) and order (ORD) is a solution. Statically related knowledge is classified as definition, partial knowledge and ambiguous knowledge and formally revealed with transitions between CWA (closed world assumption) and OWA (open world assumption). To achieve the correctness, formalization is proposed for the validation of the rules thr…
Managing semantics knowledge for 3D architectural reconstruction
2010
International audience; this work aims at bound geometrical detection of 3D objects from a point cloud using semantic descriptors to improve reusability of architectural building reconstruction and aid automatic reasoning in building information modeling (BIM). Based on exploring cognitive origins of spatial semantics representations, semantics conceptualization and classification is proposed for formal management of 3D architectural objects. The knowledge classification composes definition, partial knowledge and ambiguous knowledge, and is formalized with transformations among closed world assumption (CWA) and open world assumption (OWA). Systemic case study is conducted on a simplified bu…
Formalizing Semantic of Natural Language through Conceptualization from Existence
2011
International audience; We propose an outline of an approach to formalize semantic from conceptualization for both natural language (NL) and logic expression mechanisms. This goes beyond the level of discussions at conceptual level which has to either end in conscious/unconscious relativity of understanding or subjective enforcement in the form of definitions instead of expected objective semantic. This approach supports to view from a pure mathematical perspective, and explore and locate the fundamental problems. The semantic formalization mechanism realizes the integration of problem description and the solution expression at absolute semantic level. So a problem describing process is equ…
OntoVersionGraph : a change management methodology dedicated to formal ontologies and their user views in a collaborative context
2014
The world changes over time, impacting the knowledge of every subdomain it contains. Therefore systems describing the knowledge of a certain domain should be able to consider changes occurred to keep its knowledge representation up-to-date. Formal ontologies are one of them: they explicitly and formally represent the knowledge of a domain in all its forms and modes of existence. Collaboratively developed, a formal ontology allows the domain users to understand each other by sharing the same terminology despite the different assumptions they have on the domain conceptualization. However, due to its completeness, the complexity of its conceptualization can sometimes make the domain knowledge …
Savoirs, représentations et comportements des réunionnais en matière de santé et d'environnement 18 mois après l'épidémie de chikungunya
2009
The outbreak of Chikungunya in Reunion in 2005/2006 surprised by its intensity and by the appearance of serious forms. It has left health professionals and relatively poor populations facing the lack of appropriate treatment. From the example of Chikungunya, the general objective of our multidisciplinary research was to study how two types of factors interact in the management of a vector-based disease: those related to representations and knowledge of the disease, and those related to to the perception of the environment. In this poster, we present the results of a questionnaire survey conducted in November 2007 among the inhabitants of a district of Ravine des Cabris (Commune of St Pierre…
