Monoclonal antibodies recognizing larval- and pupal-specific cuticular proteins of Tenebrio molitor (Insecta, Coleoptera)

To study the sequential expression of insect epidermal cells during metamorphosis, a library of monoclonal antibodies (MABs) was prepared against the water-soluble proteins from preecdysial pupal cuticle of Tenebrio molitor. Six selected MABs recognizing only larval and pupal cuticular proteins (CPs) in immunoblot analysis were classified into three types. Type 1 recognized a 21.5 and a 22 kDa polypeptide, type 2, a 26 kDa polypeptide, and type 3, three polypeptides of 18.5, 19.5 and 21.5 kDa. They did not immunoreact with any protein of fat bodies or haemolymph from pharate pupae, suggesting that the antigens originate from the epidermis. Abstract The solitary parasitoid Eretmocerus mundus Mercet (Hymenoptera: Aphelinidae) is one of the key biological control agents of the whitefly Bemisia argentifolii Bellows & Perring, also known as B. tabaci (Gennadius) B-biotype (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae). We present new information on its biology, and particularly about larval elimination during the first instar in cases of superparasitism. For the first time, physical elimination of supernumerary larvae was observed, both outside and inside the host. These findings are documented with confocal microscopy images and video recordings. Acute toxicity testing in fish is a standard method used in estimating the influences of chemicals on aquatic vertebrates. The ecotoxicological data obtained from acute toxicity tests in fish are, however, not sufficiently reliable to justify the continued use of this test. Fertilised eggs of zebrafish ( Brachydanio rerio) were used to test the acute toxicity of chemicals. Baculoviruses constitute a large group of invertebrate DNA viruses, predominantly infecting larvae of the insect order Lepidoptera. During a baculovirus infection, the virus spreads throughout the insect body producing a systemic infection in multiple larval tissues, included the central nervous system (CNS). As a main component of the CNS, neuropeptides are small protein-like molecules functioning as neurohormones, neurotransmitters, or neuromodulators. Bakalaura darba pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot dažādu organizāciju sniegto nemonetāro labumu un psiholoģiskā kapitāla saistību ar apmierinātību ar darbu un iesaisti darbā. Pētījumā piedalījās 77 respondenti (sievietes - 64; vīrieši - 13), visi no viena uzņēmuma. Respondenti bija vecumā no 18 līdz 35 gadiem. Iesaistes darbā mērīšanai tika izmantota Utrehtas Iesaistes darbā aptauja (Utrecht Work Engagement Scale UWES-9), (Schaufeli & Bakker, 2003). Sakarā ar izmaiņām izglītības sistēmā, skolotājiem mūsdienās ir arvien vairāk pienākumu, un līdz ar to mainās arī viņu darba apstākļi. Darbā tiek analizēta skolotāju pienākumu plānošana un darba apstākļu nodrošināšana vispārizglītojošajā skolā. Teorētiskā analīze liecina, ka skolotāju apmierinātība, veiksmīgi rezultāti un labizjūta ir tieši saistīti ar darba apstākļiem. Precīzākai un praktiskākai empīriskai izpētei tiks veikta aptauja vienas Rīgas vidusskolas pedagogiem, lai noskaidrotu, kādi darba apstākļi nodrošina vai pasliktina viņu darba labklājību un apmierinātību.
