Modeling ontologies for robotic environments

On the basis of a multiple abstraction levels specification process, we developed a representational model for environmental robotic knowledge through the definition of a set of ontologies using a multi perspective approach. A general ontological model for typical indoor environments has been first developed, followed by its specialization using an implementation perspective. Actual software implementation of the ontology has been obtained via a XML-based markup language, used to build a repository for robotic environmental knowledge. Copyright 2002 ACM.

This paper presents an experiential learning lab focused on building a digital storytelling using both robots with LEGO Mindstorms and virtual worlds with Kodu Game Lab. The experiential laboratory (32 hours) has involved 33 children of secondary schools in a collaborative learning setting in formal (school labs) and informal learning context (external cultural association). In a first phase of the activity children used Lego Mindstorm robotic kits, assembling them and creating a physical environment (pasterboard arenas) where robots were programmed for moving and taking actions. Rilkean Memories and the Self of a Robot

This paper discusses the concept of Rilkean memories, recently introduced by Mark Rowlands, to analyze the complex intermix of hardware and software related to the self of a robot. The Rilkean memory of an event is related to the trace of that episode left in the body of the individual. It transforms the act of remembering into behavioral and bodily dispositions, thus generating the peculiar behavioral style of the individual, which is at the basis of her autobiographical self. Strontium isotopes in biogenic apatite, especially enamel, are widely employed to determine provenance and track migration in palaeontology and archaeology. Body tissues record the 87Sr/86Sr of bioavailable Sr of ingested food and water. To identify non-local individuals, knowledge of the 87Sr/86Sr of a non-migratory population is required. Para ello se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a docentes de tres comunidades autónomas (Galicia, Canarias y Valencia). Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot, kā prosociālā uzvedība ir saistīta ar subjektīvo labklājību un depresiju, kā arī kā prosociālā uzvedība prognozē subjektīvo labklājību un depresiju. Pētījumā tika izvirzītas hipotēzes, ka prosociālā uzvedība ir pozitīvi saistīta ar subjektīvo labklājību un negatīvi saistīta ar depresiju. Tika izvirzīti trīs pētījuma jautājumi. Pirmais - kā prosociālā uzvedība prognozē subjektīvu labklājību? Otrais - kā prosociālā uzvedība prognozē depresiju? Trešais - vai iesaistīšanās brīvprātīgajā darbā prognozē subjektīvo labklājību un depresiju? Artykuł porusza istotną kwestię jaką jest wpływ migracji na rynek pracy w Polsce. W sytuacji wysokiego bezrobocia i braku perspektyw na znalezienie pracy w kraju wielu Polaków zdecydowało się na emigrację. Zjawisko to przybrało na sile po wstąpieniu naszego kraju do Unii Europejskiej. Emigrowali głównie ludzie młodzi i stosunkowo dobrze wykształceni. Lawina emigrantów spowodowała „lukę podażową” na rynku pracy. Dla rozwijającej się polskiej gospodarki stanowi to istotny problem, gdyż okazuje się,że pomimo bezrobocia, które obecnie jest najniższe od czasu transformacji ustrojowej, w wielu sektorach brakuje „rąk do pracy”.
