Plant material screening was performed to study anti-Helicobacter pylori activity in vitro using an agar diffusion method on Columbia blood agar. 33 substances, juices and plant extracts and 35 of their combinations were tested. Quince (Cydonia oblonga) juice demonstrated the strongest anti-H. pylori activity followed by cranberry juice. Con-centrated apple juice, plum, red currant, black chokeberry, raspberry and bilberry juice also showed significant activity. Green tea and apple pomace extract as well as sweet flag rhizome, ginger and wild bergamot extract, cherry syrup, red beet juice and whey did not exhibit anti-Helicobacter activity. In addition to wavelengths visible to humans (400-700 nm), many birds are able to detect near ultraviolet light (320-400 nm). Most studies of ultraviolet (UV) vision in birds have concentrated on the importance of UV vision in intraspecific signalling, especially in passerine birds. However, birds may also use UV vision for other purposes, e.g. foraging. Abstract Reproducing kernel Hilbert spaces regression procedures for prediction of total genetic value for quantitative traits, which make use of phenotypic and genomic data simultaneously, are discussed from a theoretical perspective. It is argued that a nonparametric treatment may be needed for capturing the multiple and complex interactions potentially arising in whole-genome models, i.e., those based on thousands of single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers. The main focus of this review is on biomedical applications of pterostilbene. Bergman and Bloch spaces of vector-valued functions

We investigate Bergman and Bloch spaces of analytic vector-valued functions in the unit disc. We show how the Bergman projection from the Bochner-Lebesgue space Lp(, X) onto the Bergman space Bp(X) extends boundedly to the space of vector-valued measures of bounded p-variation Vp(X), using this fact to prove that the dual of Bp(X) is Bp(X*) for any complex Banach space X and 1 < p < ∞. As for p = 1 the dual is the Bloch space ℬ(X*). Furthermore we relate these spaces (via the Bergman kernel) with the classes of p-summing and positive p-summing operators, and we show in the same framework that Bp(X) is always complemented in p(X). Abstract Over land the vegetation canopy affects the microwave brightness temperature by emission, scattering and attenuation of surface soil emission. Attenuation, as represented by vegetation optical depth (VOD), is a potentially useful ecological indicator.
