Improved Salmonella recovery from moderate to highly polluted waters.

A new enrichment procedure for the recovery of salmonellas from aquatic environments is proposed. It has been tested in a eutrophic lake showing moderate to high faecal contamination levels (the Albufera lake near Valencia, Spain), and in effluents coming into a wastewater treatment plant. The new method consists of the addition of sodium novobiocin to a modification of Rappaport's medium (R10/43°C). The new medium (NR10/43°C) allows a better recovery of salmonellas from water than selenite broth.

Ensuring optimum interior lighting is a topic of great importance, as this influences not only the well-being of users but also the optimal performance of visual tasks. Lighting can be natural, but if not sufficient, it can be compensated with artificial lighting. This study highlights a methodology for designing a new lighting system that takes into account both technical and economic aspects. The method was applied to an existing school located in southern Italy, in which the electricity consumption is related to the current lighting system. Scritto e parlato: tracce di un’antinomia nella trattatistica retorica di età ellenistica

Nel presente contributo metteremo in evidenza che, andando alla ricerca di tracce dell’antitesi scritto-parlato nella storia del pensiero, l’indagine sull’epoca ellenistica (323 a.C. – 31 a.C.) ci restituisce una tendenza piuttosto chiara: tali tracce non le troviamo nella riflessione filosofica riconducibile alle tre principali scuole dell’epoca (Epicureismo, Stoicismo e Scetticismo), quanto piuttosto nella trattatistica retorica la quale, ovviamente, si nutre anche della riflessione filosofica precedente, ma ha tuttavia una sua specificità di metodo ed oggetto di indagine.

Selenium bāzēto ietvaru salīdzināšana

Darbs sastāv no divām daļām: teorētiskā un salīdzināšana. Teorētiskajā daļā tiek aprakstīta testēšanas klasifikācija un automatizētas testēšanas jēdzieni, uzdevumi un plānošana, kā arī tiek dots Selenium rīka apraksts. Otrā daļā aprakstīti populārie Selenium bāzētie ietvari, kā arī veikta to salīdzināšana. Ir izstrādāts paštaisītais Selenium ietvars un salīdzināts ar gataviem risinājumiem. Tika veikta aptauja par automatizētu testēšanu ar Selenium palīdzību un apkopoti rezultāti. Darba rezultātā autors secināja ka vieglāk izmantot jau gatavos risinājumus, nekā rakstīt savu ietvaru “no nulles”. Darbs sastāv 67 lapaspuse, 49 attēli, 1 tabula un 2 pielikumi

Stereocontrolled approach to δ- and γ-lactones and 1,3-diols. The role of X− ion in the selenolactonization

Abstract Two complementary approaches have been realized for the stereoselective synthesis of 4,6-disubstituted δ-lactones and 1,3- anti and syn diols. In the 6- endo selenolactonization the role of the X − ion on the stereoselectivity is shown. Moreover, the highly stereoselective transformation of the 6- endo δ-lactone to the 5- exo γ-lactone is reported.
