This includes Macbeth refusing to shake hands with his opponent before the battle, his words to Banquo's ghost quoted in the title above, Banquo's own puzzlement at the weird sisters' placing a finger over their lips, the doctor's suspicions at Lady Macbeth's rubbing her hands and sleepwalking, as well as Malcom's request that Macduff not pull his hat over his eyes. International audience; Ultrafast dynamics of excited molecules is studied through time-resolved two-vacuum-ultraviolet (vuv)- photon ionization using a nonlinear volume autocorrelator unit. The two-vuv-photon process is induced by the intense fifth harmonic radiation of a femtosecond Ti:sapphire laser. In a proof-of-principle experiment, ultrafast dynamics of excited ethylene and oxygen molecules are investigated. Molecular decay times are deduced by comparing the experimental data with the results of a numerical model that accounts for the spatial and temporal characteristics of the harmonic field. Towards controlling PCDD/F production in a multi-fuel fired BFB boiler using two sulfur addition strategies

Abstract PCDD/F abatement strategies – sulfur pellet addition and peat co-combustion – were tested for a BFB boiler facility utilizing SRF-bark-sludge as fuel. In this paper chemical and physical analyses of electrostatic precipitator (ESP) fly ashes were used to explain the differences in the performance of these strategies. These analyses revealed a difference between the coarse and fine fly ashes collected in the ESP. Chemical analysis of the fine fly ashes revealed high concentration of easily volatilized elements while the SEM micrographs showed that fine ash are composed of clusters of spherical particles, thereby leading to a conclusion that fine ashes were originally in a gas phase …

The essay analyzes the occurrences, in ancient Greek texts, of the nexus λόγῳ (or διὰ λόγου) θεωρητόν, referring to entities that can be object of observation or speculation through the λόγος, as opposed to what is observable through sensation/perception (αἴσθησις). Attested with certainty for the first time in Epicurus’ Letter to Herodotus in con- nection with the theory of time, the concept, in later doxographers, is already connected to the physical theories of Democritus and Anaxagoras. Tässä työssä tutkitaan negatiivisen vetyionilähteen plasman tuottaman ultraviolettisäteilyn ja ionilähteen tuottaman negatiivisen vetyionisuihkun intensiteetin välistä korrelaatiota. Työssä löydettiin korrelaatio VUV-spektrin tiettyjen aallonpituusalueiden intensiteettien välisen suhteen ja Faraday-kupilla mitatun suihkuintensiteetin välillä. Photodynamics studies of ligand-protected gold nanoclusters by using ultrafast transient infrared spectroscopy

Highly monodisperse samples of three ligand-protected gold nanoclusters Au102(pMBA)44, Au144(SC2H4Ph)60, and a cluster tentatively identified as Au130(pMBA)50, were characterized by UV/vis and infrared spectroscopy, and their photodynamics was studied by transient absorption spectroscopy. The dynamics study for each cluster was performed by electronically exciting the cluster with a pump pulse in the visible or near infrared region and by monitoring the transient absorption of vibrational modes of the ligands with a mid-IR probe pulse. The aim of this study was to assess a potential relationship between the incidence of recurrent LDH and the surgical technique used. Cross validation of hard-copy and web-based formats of the Sport Imagery Ability Measure

The purpose of this multi-sample study was to examine the psychometric characteristics, factor structure, and measurement invariance of the hard-copy and web-based versions of a measure of sport imagery ability, termed Sport Imagery Ability Measure (SIAM). In the first sample, Spanish athletes (N = 274, 161 men, 113 women, Mage = 21.91, SD = 6.67) completed a hard-copy version of the SIAM. A newly developed web-based version of the SIAM was cross validated in an independent group (N = 266, 147 men, 119 women, Mage = 25.93, SD = 9.84).
