Practices of Writing in Ethnographic Work

Although the practice of writing is key to the production of ethnographic knowledge, the topic remains understudied. Using material from our own ethnographic research in the fields of air travel and cultural heritage as data, we develop a reflexive account of ethnographic writing. We examine in detail the practices of jotting down observations, writing field notes, analytic annotating, ordering and rearranging, and drafting and revising papers. The article takes a praxeological stance, conceptualizing writing as a practice that is simultaneously cognitive, embodied, and material. Abstract One of the most important Irish historical sources, which are the Annals of the Four Masters, written in the modern period, provide us with unusually valuable information about the history of the Emerald Island. In addition to data from the ancient or medieval periods, it also contains material from the difficult 16th and 17th centuries for Ireland, when it came under the yoke of English Protestants, who were initially represented by the Tudors and then by the Stuart dynasty. Jātnieku pulkam un Armijas zirgu sporta klubam laikā no 1919. g., kad tika dibināta pirmā Latvijas bruņoto spēku jātnieku vienība - Oskara Kalpaka bataljona Atsevišķā jātnieku nodaļa, līdz valsts okupācijai 1940. g. Darba mērķis ir izanalizēt zirgkopības un jāšanas sporta attīstību Latvijā minētajā laika periodā, izpētot Jātnieku pulka un AZSK darbību. The reaction of some sodium alkoxides with 4,4-dichloro-1,1-diphenyl-2-azabuta-1,3-diene is described. Whereas sodium methoxide, ethoxide or isopropoxide leads to 1,3-bis(alkoxy)- and/or 1,3,4-tris(alkoxy)-2-azabut-2-enes, the sodium salt of ethyl glycolate gives a Δ2-oxazoline. Mechanisms for the formation of these products are proposed.

The reaction of the tantalocene trihydride complexes Cp′ 2 TaH 3 1 (Cp′= η 5 -C 5 H 4 t Bu) or Cp″CpTaH 3 1′ (Cp″= η 5 -C 5 H 2 -1,2-Me 2 -4- t Bu) with propylene sulfide was found to proceed via an unprecedented sulfur transfer and regioselective ring opening reaction at once to yield sulfido-thiolato tantalocene complexes Cp′ 2 Ta(S)(S- i Pr) 2a whose structure has been determined by X-ray crystallography or Cp″CpTa(S)(S- i Pr) 2′a . Complex 1 reacts with ethylene sulfide to give Cp′ 2 Ta(S)(S–Et) 2b . Superfluorinated ionic liquid crystals based on supramolecular, halogen-bonded anions

Unconventional ionic liquid crystals in which the liquid crystallinity is enabled by halogen-bonded supramolecular anions [CnF2 n+1-I⋯I⋯I-CnF2 n+1]- are reported. The material system is unique in many ways, demonstrating for the first time 1) ionic, halogen-bonded liquid crystals, and 2) imidazolium-based ionic liquid crystals in which the occurrence of liquid crystallinity is not driven by the alkyl chains of the cation. Modeling mass transfer in fracture flows with the time domain-random walk method

The time domain-random walk method was developed further for simulating mass transfer in fracture flows together with matrix diffusion in surrounding porous media. Specifically, a time domain-random walk scheme was developed for numerically approximating solutions of the advection-diffusion equation when the diffusion coefficient exhibits significant spatial variation or even discontinuities. The proposed scheme relies on second-order accurate, central-difference approximations of the advective and diffusive fluxes. Ilgu laiku Borhu dzimtas personīgā korespondence ir bijis pētniekiem nepieejams resurss, kurš tagad ir iztulkots uz latviešu valodu. Vēsturiskā korespondence ir teksta veids, kurš piedāvā īpaša veida tulkošanas izaicinājumus. Šī pētījuma mērķis ir identificēt biežāk pielietojamās tulkojuma metodes Borhu dzimtas ģimenes locekļu personīgās sarakstes tulkošanā.
