The convective eigenvalues of the one–dimensional p–Laplacian as p → 1
2020
Abstract This paper studies the limit behavior as p → 1 of the eigenvalue problem { − ( | u x | p − 2 u x ) x − c | u x | p − 2 u x = λ | u | p − 2 u , 0 x 1 , u ( 0 ) = u ( 1 ) = 0 . We point out that explicit expressions for both the eigenvalues λ n and associated eigenfunctions are not available (see [16] ). In spite of this hindrance, we obtain the precise values of the limits lim p → 1 + λ n . In addition, a complete description of the limit profiles of the eigenfunctions is accomplished. Moreover, the formal limit problem as p → 1 is also addressed. The results extend known features for the special case c = 0 ( [6] , [28] ).
Efficient generation of restricted growth words
2013
A length n restricted growth word is a word w=w"1w"2...w"n over the set of integers where w"1=0 and each w"i, i>1, lies between 0 and the value of a word statistics of the prefix w"1w"2...w"i"-"1 of w, plus one. Restricted growth words simultaneously generalize combinatorial objects as restricted growth functions, staircase words and ascent or binary sequences. Here we give a generic generating algorithm for restricted growth words. It produces a Gray code and runs in constant average time provided that the corresponding statistics has some local properties.
Multiple Solutions for Fractional Boundary Value Problems
2018
Variational methods and critical point theorems are used to discuss existence and multiplicity of solutions for fractional boundary value problem where Riemann–Liouville fractional derivatives and Caputo fractional derivatives are used. Some conditions to determinate nonnegative solutions are presented. An example is given to illustrate our results.
Random Tensor Theory: Extending Random Matrix Theory to Mixtures of Random Product States
2012
We consider a problem in random matrix theory that is inspired by quantum information theory: determining the largest eigenvalue of a sum of p random product states in $${(\mathbb {C}^d)^{\otimes k}}$$ , where k and p/d k are fixed while d → ∞. When k = 1, the Marcenko-Pastur law determines (up to small corrections) not only the largest eigenvalue ( $${(1+\sqrt{p/d^k})^2}$$ ) but the smallest eigenvalue $${(\min(0,1-\sqrt{p/d^k})^2)}$$ and the spectral density in between. We use the method of moments to show that for k > 1 the largest eigenvalue is still approximately $${(1+\sqrt{p/d^k})^2}$$ and the spectral density approaches that of the Marcenko-Pastur law, generalizing the random matrix…
Irradiation effects in CaF2probed by Raman scattering
2016
The formation conditions and dynamics of Ca colloids and point defects that appear in irradiated single crystals of CaF2 were investigated by Raman spectroscopy. The intensity changes in the Raman spectra because of the presence of different concentrations of point defects and Ca colloids that emerged in CaF2 after irradiation with 2.2 GeV Au ions were used to study their distribution and stability under illumination with three laser wavelengths (473, 532 and 633 nm) at different output powers (2 to 200 mW). A damage saturation at a fluence of 6 × 1011 ion cm−2 was observed. The dependence of the spectral changes on the ion fluence can be described by a core/halo damage cross-section model.…
Production of Nano-Sized Co3O4 by Pyrolysis of Organic Extracts
2016
The most promising application field of materials based on nano-sized Co3O4 is catalysis. The method of production is one of the factors, which greatly affects the catalytic activity of Co3O4 catalysts. The aim of this research is to study possibilities of a new promising extractive-pyrolytic method (EPM) for the production of Co3O4 nanopowders and silica- and ceria-supported Co3O4 nanocomposites. Solutions of cobalt hexanoate in hexanoic acid and trioctylammonium tetrachlorocobaltate in toluene preliminary produced by solvent extraction were used as precursors. The precursors’ thermal stability, phase composition, morphology and the magnetic properties of the final products of pyrolysis we…
Systematic and statistical uncertainties of the hilbert-transform based high-precision FID frequency extraction method.
2021
Abstract Pulsed nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is widely used in high-precision magnetic field measurements. The absolute value of the magnetic field is determined from the precession frequency of nuclear magnetic moments. The Hilbert transform is one of the methods that have been used to extract the phase function from the observed free induction decay (FID) signal and then its frequency. In this paper, a detailed implementation of a Hilbert-transform based FID frequency extraction method is described, and it is briefly compared with other commonly used frequency extraction methods. How artifacts and noise level in the FID signal affect the extracted phase function are derived analytical…
Synthesis of ZnO–Ag2CO3–Fe3O4@rGO core–shell structure: magnetically separable photocatalyst for degradation of MB using the Box–Behnken design
2020
In this work, a simple microwave method was utilized to prepare ZnO sheet linked with Fe3O4@rGO core–shell and of Ag2CO3 through formation of the quadri-photocatalytic with high activity. The microstructure, morphology, spectroscopic, and magnetic characteristics of the prepared samples were assessed using XRD, SEM, PL, TEM, FT-IR, DLS, and VSM analysis. The photocatalytic activity of the material was evaluated for photodegradation of methylene blue dye under the UV and visible light with home-made photoreactor. The response surface method in a Box–Behnken design was utilized to design the experiments. The parameters affecting the efficiency of the degradation including, pH (5–9), photocata…
Nucleation of GaN nanowires grown by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy: The effect of temperature
2011
Abstract The growth of GaN nanowires by means of plasma assisted molecular beam epitaxy directly on Si(1 1 1) has been investigated as a function of temperature. Statistical analysis of scanning electron microscopy pictures taken for different growth temperatures has revealed that density, diameter, length and length dispersion of nanowires were strongly dependent on temperature. Length dispersion, in particular, was found to be significant at high temperature. These features have been assigned to the different duration of the nucleation process with temperature, namely to the dependence with temperature of the time necessary for the size increase of the three-dimensional precursors up to a…
