Isolation, identification and toxicological characterization of TSS 1, a new mycotoxin of the rosenane class.
1990
11-β-hydroxy-7-deoxy-rosenonolactone (TSS1), a product of the pathogenic fungusTrichothecium roseum (Moniliaceae) was isolated from culture medium extracts and completely described in its structure by spectroscopical methods.TSS 1 was classified as a representative of the lactone series of the rosenane class and as a structural isomer to Rosenololactone (1) and Rosololactone (2, 3).TSS1 showed toxic effects in the growth inhibition test toE coli (EC 50: lOμg/mL) andB subtil is (EC 50: 17μg/mL), inhibited fermentation of yeast (EC 50: 2.8μg/mL) and suppressed motility ofAnemia satina larvae (EC 50: 45/μg/mL).Rosenonolactone, the best known representative of that mycotoxin class, showed only …
Stereoselective Synthesis and Structural Correction of the Naturally Occurring Lactone Stagonolide G
2010
A convergent synthesis of the structure proposed for the naturally occurring lactone stagonolide G is described. All three stereocenters were created with the aid of asymmetric Brown allylations. The lactone ring was built by means of a ring-closing metathesis (RCM). The synthetic and the natural compound differed in their spectral properties. A new structure is now proposed for stagonolide G and demonstrated by means of a chemical transformation.
Synthesis of elemane bis-lactones structurally related to vernolepin
1998
Abstract The chemical transformation of santonin into an elemane bis -lactone structurally related to the antitumour compound vernolepin is reported. The transformation of ring A of santonin into a hemiacetal δ-lactone was achieved in eleven steps. The spectroscopic characteristics of the synthetic product obtained in this way revealed that the proposed structure for the natural product should be revised.
2-Aryl-substituted 4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-ones as novel active substances for the cardiovascular system
1991
4H-3,1-Benzoxazin-4-ones of the structural types 3 and 4 are accessible by cyclization reactions. The introduction of the phosphonate group was achieved by way of Wohl-Ziegler bromination and subsequent Michaelis-Arbuzow reaction with a trialkyl phosphite. Pharmacological investigations on isolated left atria, ileum specimens, and Langendorff hearts as well as in vivo circulatory studies on anesthetized rats revealed that the phosphonates 4 exert calcium antagonistic effects. Whereas 2-(arylvinyl)benzoxazinones gave rise to pronounced negative inotropic effects, compound 3e exhibited relaxing effects on smooth musculature in particular and markedly increased the coronary flow through Langen…
Synthesis of poly(disulfide)s with narrow molecular weight distributions via lactone ring-opening polymerization
2020
We report the first example of controlled polymerization of poly(disulfide)s with narrow molecular weight distributions. 1,4,5-oxadithiepan-2-one (OTP), a disulfide-containing 7-membered ring lactone, was polymerized by using the diphenylphosphate (DPP) catalyzed lactone ring-opening polymerization method. The polymerization proceeded in a living manner, and the resulting polymers displayed very narrow polydispersity index (PDI) values below 1.1 and excellent backbone degradability responding to reducing conditions and UV irradiation.
Double and triple calix[4]arenis connected via the oxygen functions
1990
New macrocyclic molecules are described containing two or three p-tert-butylcalix[4]arene subunits connected via their oxygen atoms. These macrocycles are available by two general methods which are capable of producing assemblies with bridges of varying rigidity and length.
Chiral Lanthanocene Derivatives Containing Two Linked Amido−Cyclopentadienyl Ligands: Heterobimetallic Structure and Lactone Polymerization Activity
1997
Reaction of 2 equiv of dilithium amido−cyclopentadienide Li2(C5R4SiMe2NCH2CH2X) (C5R4 = C5Me4, C5H3tBu; X = OMe, NMe2) with anhydrous LnCl3 (Ln = Y, Lu) gave C2-symmetric complexes of the type Li[Ln(η5:η1-C5R4SiMe2NCH2CH2X)2] containing a heterobimetallic core. The molecular structure of Li[Y(η5:η1-C5Me4SiMe2NCH2CH2OMe)2] was determined by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis, which showed it to exhibit both a pseudotetrahedral yttrium as well as a tetrahedral lithium center. In accordance with a formal 20-electron configuration at the rare earth metal center Ln, the amido-nitrogen atoms are shown to be pyramidalized. In the case of Li[Y(η5:η1-C5H3tBuSiMe2NCH2CH2X)2], mixtures of the tw…
Synthesis of 9-oxyfunctionalized eudesmanes from artemisin
1995
Abstract Artemisin ( 1 ) was transformed into two natural sesquiterpenoids 2 and 3 in a sequence which involves functionality transfer from C 8 to C 9 and further elaboration of the A ring and the lactone moiety.
Interaction of aminomethylated resorcinarenes with rhodamine B
2009
The interaction of aminomethylated resorcinarenes with a red xanthene dye, rhodamine B, was investigated in chloroform, methanol and chloroform–methanol solutions using UV-vis, NMR and fluorescence spectroscopy. Aminomethylated resorcinarenes 1 and 2 shift the rhodamine B equilibrium from the zwitterion to the lactone form unlike reference compounds 3 and 4, which do not contain tertiary amino groups at the upper rim, giving an example of how supramolecular hosts can influence the equilibrium of rhodamine B isomers.
