Combined endo-laparoscopic treatment of large gastrointestinal stromal tumor of the stomach: Report of a case and literature review

Highlights • We report a case of 75-year-old Caucasian men with unknown voluminous gastric GIST, who came to our attention complaining melena. We decided to perform a laparoscopic-endoscopic combined surgical approach. • Intraoperative endoscopy identified gastric GIST and confirmed the submucosal origin and the integrity of the capsule. Highlights • Patients with lack of factor VIIa, suffering from abnormal uterine bleedings can be treated with laparoscopic hysterectomy. • Technique using bipolar coagulation and non-absorbable clips is safe and not time consuming. • Pre-operative loading with recombinant factor VIIa must be followed by prolonged supplementation in post-operative period. • We present suggested dosage and length of factor VIIa supplementation based on literature review and own experience.

Rectal stump washout with cytolytic agents is recommended and usually performed during anterior rectal or rectosigmoid resection.
