Collaboration and Decision Making in Crisis Situations
2016
[EN] Emergencies are critical situations that demand immediate action to avoid adverse consequences to life and property. Recent events around the world highlight the importance of the theme. A key challenge in Emergency Management is decision-making under time pressure, with an overload of unconfirmed, uncertain and conflicting information, including the management of many people, with distinct and possibly fluid roles, in different places. Collaboration in these settings is an interesting element, since emergency response generally involves multiple agencies and the public, which, having different views, protocols and priorities, must act in concert to handle the situation. In addition, a…
Teacher Training in Linguistic Diversity within Inclusive Education: Cooperation between Non-governmental Non-profit Organizations and Educational In…
2020
A formal model based on Game Theory for the analysis of cooperation in distributed service discovery
2016
New systems can be designed, developed, and managed as societies of agents that interact with each other by offering and providing services. These systems can be viewed as complex networks where nodes are bounded rational agents. In order to deal with complex goals, they require cooperation of the other agents to be able to locate the required services. The aim of this paper is formally and empirically analyze under which circumstances cooperation emerges in decentralized search of services. We propose a repeated game model that formalizes the interactions among agents in a search process where agents are free to choose between cooperate or not in the process. Agents make decisions based on…
Including functional usability features in a Model-Driven Development Method
2013
The Software Engineering (SE) community has historically focused on working with models to represent functionality and persistence, pushing interaction modelling into the background, which has been covered by the Human Computer Interaction (HCI) community. Recently, adequately modelling interaction, and specifically usability, is being considered as a key factor for success in user acceptance, making the integration of the SE and HCI communities more necessary. If we focus on the Model-Driven Development (MDD) paradigm, we notice that there is a lack of proposals to deal with usability features from the very first steps of software development process. In general, usability features are man…
Seguimiento del trabajo no presencial: retroalimentación y optimización
2015
[EN] Within the context of UPV’s project for improving the learning process through innovation, the TASCA group has developed and applied different strategies to assess student’s out-of-class work. This work has allowed us to collect feedback from proposed out-of-class activities, like whether the deadlines for assignments have been under or overestimated, or students’ opinion, to improve thos activities. We have test the usefulness of these strategies in nine different degrees. In general, there is a great variability in the time students devote to a given task and, in some cases, no positive correlation is observed between that time and the obtained results. Hence, by performing this kind…
La dimensión social del lenguaje como una oportunidad educativa para la promoción del diálogo intercultural en el aula de Educación Superior
2021
[EN] For some time, it has been considered the need to approach the educational experience to the student sociocultural reality in the context of a classroom in Higher Education. This need is even more evident in the context of international exchange programs, in which the main objective is precisely to provide a space for mutual enrichment between the student's culture of origin and the host culture. In this sense, the “Grup d’Acompanyament Lingüístic” (GRUPal) works to promote the intercultural dialogue that inevitably and spontaneously takes place in and outside the classroom. The purpose of this paper is to present a didactic intervention based on inclusion and cooperative exchange as w…
Defining Interaction Design Patterns to Extract Knowledge from Big Data
2018
[EN] The Big Data domain offers valuable opportunities to gain valuable knowledge. The User Interface (UI), the place where the user interacts to extract knowledge from data, must be adapted to address the domain complexities. Designing UIs for Big Data becomes a challenge that involves identifying and designing the user-data interaction implicated in the knowledge extraction. To design such an interaction, one widely used approach is design patterns. Design Patterns describe solutions to common interaction design problems. This paper proposes a set of patterns to design UIs aimed at extracting knowledge from the Big Data systems data conceptual schemas. As a practical example, we apply the…
A Newcomer's Guide to EICS, the Engineering Interactive Computing Systems Community
2019
[EN] Welcome to EICS, the Engineering Interactive Computing Systems community, PACMHCI/EICS journal, and annual conference! In this short article, we introduce newcomers to the field and to our community with an overview of what EICS is and how it positions with respect to other venues in Human-Computer Interaction, such as CHI, UIST, and IUI, highlighting its legacy and paying homage to past scientific events from which EICS emerged. We also take this opportunity to enumerate and exemplify scientific contributions to the field of Engineering Interactive Computing Systems, which we hope to guide researchers and practitioners towards making their future PACMHCI/EICS submissions successful an…
Dos túmulos valencianos del siglo XVIII
1991
CON MOTIVO DE LAS EXEQUIAS CELEBRADAS EN LA CIUDAD DE VALENCIA Y EN VALLADA (VALENCIA) EN SUFRAGIO DE LA HERMANA LEOCADIA ESTOPIÑA (1716) Y DE FRAY ANDRES GARRIDO (1728) SE ERIGIERON SENDOS TUMULOS, CUYA DESCRIPCION SE RECOGE EN LAS FUENTES CONTEMPORANEAS. ENTRE ELLAS SE SELECCIONAN LOS JEROGLIFICOS QUE LAS ACOMPAÑABAN Y QUE ALUDIAN A LAS VIRTUDES DE LOS DIFUNTOS. ESA MISMA SELECCION ES REFLEJO DE LA JERARQUIA DE VALORES DE LA EPOCA. (A.B.C./ L.A.G.)
