A review of multiple faults diagnosis methods in Voltage Source Inverters

2015

This paper examines, as in short review, the methods of diagnosis of simple and multiple faults on Voltage Source Inverter (VSI). The methods examined here are essentially based on the inspection of the load currents. Some of these diagnosis methods are characterized by low computational effort, other for a better reliability avoiding faultless positive tests. Some solutions are characterized by a share of these benefits while others prefer an enforcement of trustworthiness, in spite of the lower calculation amount. The analysis of the technical literature, certainly, offers a glimpse about the creation of new algorithms and significant advances for the future.

Multi-objective strategies for management and design of distributed electric storage systems in a Mediterranean island

The paper proposes an analytical study about the design and operation of distributed Electrical Storage Systems(ESS) in an active distribution network supplying a Mediterranean island, according to different criteria. The approach is based on the application of a multi-objective optimization algorithm (NSGA-II) that outputs a set of optimized schedules of the ESS in different configurations when operated according to different criteria (minimum energy losses in the grid, total generation cost, greenhouse gas emissions, limiting the fluctuations of the generation from fossil fuel plants). UPS fuel cell based: An innovative back-up system

The aim of the paper is to evaluate the technical feasibility and aspects related to the use, in an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), of fuel cells instead of traditional electrochemical batteries. The proposed system, named UPS-FCB (Fuel Cell Based) presents a modular and versatile system configuration; particularly it is possible to integrate it with traditional UPS. Moreover the system features can be modified in terms of power, reliability, back-up time, etc., by changing the power devices. Extended friction model of a hydraulic actuated system

The main contribution of this paper is an experimental validation and comparison of three different friction models for an electro-hydraulic servo system. The first is the well-kn own LuGre model which incorporates dynamic friction effects. The second model is based on a relatively recent publication by Yanada in 2008 [6], which incorporates liquid film thickness in the servo valve. The third model is a new contribution presented in this paper, where valve underlap and mass acceleration are combined with the LuGre model. Can Atmospheric Neutrons Induce Soft Errors in NAND Floating Gate Memories?

Atmospheric neutrons can interact with the matter inside a microelectronic chip and generate ionizing particles, which in turn can change the state of one or more memory bits [soft error (SE)]. In this letter, we show that SEs are possible in Flash memories, although with extremely low probabilities. While this problem will increase for future technologies, we do not expect SEs to be the reliability limiting factor for further floating gate scaling.

Implementation of a Drosophila-inspired orientation model on the Eye-Ris platform

A behavioral model, recently derived from experiments on fruit-flies, was implemented, with successful comparative experiments on orientation control in real robots. This model has been firstly implemented in a standard CNN structure, using an algorithm based on classical, space-invariant templates. This paper shows the economic convenience of the application of a reconfiguration system for photovoltaic plants, considering the incentives system in Italy and its recent modifications. Cost Analysis of FMS Throughput

Abstract The need for an effective cost planning and control system is stressed in today highly competitive manufacturing environment. The conventional approaches of machining economics to cost analysis are no more able to cope with the new structure of the production costs in the highly automated - highly integrated manufacturing systems. Suitable cost analysis procedures should provide a strong integration between process planning data and overall system performances. The here proposed procedure for the estimate of the unit manufacturing cost in FMSs achieves this integration by using performance evaluation techniques like discrete event simulation or queueing network models.
