CY5 fluorescence measured with silicon photomultipliers

This paper presents an efficient optical biosensor set up for a low-level light detection, using fluorescent dyes and a novel Si-based detector. Fluorescence emitted by a traditional fluorophore, CY5, widely used as optical label in DNA microarrays, was detected using a 25 pixels Silicon photomultiplier (SiPM), a device formed by avalanche diodes operating in Geiger mode, in parallel connections. Reduced Peak Bone Mass in Young Adults with Low Motor Competence

Although suboptimal bone health has been reported in children and adolescents with low motor competence (LMC), it is not known whether such deficits are present at the time of peak bone mass. We examined the impact of LMC on bone mineral density (BMD) in 1043 participants (484 females) from the Raine Cohort Study. Participants had motor competence assessed using the McCarron Assessment of Neuromuscular Development at 10, 14, and 17 years, and a whole body dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry scan at 20 years. Earthworms are an important soil taxon as ecosystem engineers, providing a variety of crucial ecosystem functions and services. Little is known about their diversity and distribution at large spatial scales, despite the availability of considerable amounts of local-scale data. Regression diagnostics applied in kinetic data processing: Outlier recognition and robust weighting procedures

An efficient protocol, based on advanced statistical diagnostics and robust fitting techniques applied to the least-squares processing of kinetic data of chemical reactions, is presented and discussed. The procedure, which is aimed at obtaining highly accurate estimation of the fitting parameters, consists of the identification of the outliers that remarkably impair the fitting by means of the so-called “leverage analysis” and some related diagnostics. Mūsdienās mikrokontrolieru vadītām ierīcēm ir liela nozīme. Pastāvīgi pieaug pieprasījums pēc lietojumiem, kurus ir nepieciešams vai ir vēlams automatizēt un mikrokontrolieri ir tieši paredzēti tam. Šajā darbā tiek apskatīta mikrokontrolieru uzbūve un apkopoti to pielietojumi mūsdienās. Kā arī apskatīta Arduino mikrokontrolieru prototipēšanas platforma. Pētījuma rezultātā tika izveidots ierīces prototips uz Arduino mikrokontrolieru prototipēšanas platformas bāzes.
