UV light induced luminescence processes in AlN nanotips and ceramics

2005

UV induced luminescence properties of AlN (Eg = 6.2 eV) have been studied for AlN nanotips and AlN ceramics, using methods of photoluminescence, optically stimulated luminescence and thermoluminescence. In both types of objects the main luminescence band, which appears in prompt and stimulated emission spectra around 400 nm, arises due to presence of oxygen-related defects. The main difference between AlN nanotips and AlN ceramics is observed in excitation spectra and TL properties. Basing on the experimental results it is assumed that several different energy transfer mechanisms occur in AlN. (© 2005 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)

Initial light-induced degradation study of multicrystalline modules made from silicon material processed through different manufacturing routes

2012

The paper presents results of initial lightinduced degradation (LID) of multicrystalline silicon photovoltaic (PV) modules made of crystalline silicon from different manufacturing processes. The modules were installed within the Sunbelt, in Hyderabad, India. Current-voltage (I–V) characteristics are measured and infra-red (IR) images of the modules are taken at regular intervals. A relationship of the IV degradation with the IR images is discussed. Results from laboratory LID tests at room temperature are performed parallel to the outdoor degradation of PV modules. It was found that the total LID, measured on the module level, after the initial 40 hours is similar for both materials resulti…

Light-induced ionic processes in optical oxide glasses

1991

Abstract The density of optical glasses is changed by the influence of light capable of generating color centers in these materials. Such defect generation is not only an electronic process, but an atomic displacement is also necessary. The strong localization of electronic and vibrational excitations in the glass network leads to the high efficiency of sub-threshold defect generation. Secondary ionic processes lead to the changes of basic glass properties (light refractive index, density, mechanical strength, etc.); thus, it is possible to use optical glasses as light detectors for appropriate wavelengths.

Light-induced polarization effects in atoms with partially resolved hyperfine structure and applications to absorption, fluorescence, and nonlinear m…

2009

The creation and detection of atomic polarization is examined theoretically, through the study of basic optical-pumping mechanisms and absorption and fluorescence measurements, and the dependence of these processes on the size of ground- and excited-state hyperfine splittings is determined. The consequences of this dependence are studied in more detail for the case of nonlinear magneto-optical rotation in the Faraday geometry (an effect requiring the creation and detection of rank-two polarization in the ground state) with alkali atoms. Analytic formulas for the optical rotation signal under various experimental conditions are presented.

Thermal and light induced polymorphism in iron(II) spin crossover compounds.

2004

The spin crossover complexes {Fe[H2B(pz)2]2L} ([H2B(pz)2]2 = dihydrobis(pyrazolyl)borate, L = 2,2'-bipyridine (1), bipy and 1,10-phenanthroline, phen (2)) undergo both thermal and light induced spin crossover, but the structure of the low spin and light induced high spin states for 2 are different from that of the thermally induced high spin state and from those of 1. Light-induced superconductivity

Intense light pulses irradiating a sample of K3C60 result in dramatic changes of its high-frequency (terahertz) conductivity. Could these be signatures of fleeting superconductivity at 100 K and beyond?

2009

Five novel two-dimensional coordination polymers {Fe(4PhPy)(2)[M(II)(CN)(4)]}.sH(2)O (4PhyPy = 4-phenylpyridine; 1: M(II) = Pd, s = 0; 2: M(II) = Ni, s = 0; 3: M(II) = Pt, s = 1) and {Fe(4PhPy)(2)[M(I)(CN)(2)](2)}.sH(2)O (4: M(I) = Ag, s = 1; 5: M(I) = Au, s = 0.5) exhibiting spin-crossover properties have been synthesized. They were characterized at various temperatures using X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The occurrence of a cooperative thermal spin transition detected by the magnetic method is located at critical temperatures T(c)( downward arrow)/T(c)( upward arrow) …

Thermo- and light responsive micellation of azobenzene containing block copolymers

2010

In this communication, the synthesis and characterization of thermo- and light responsive block copolymers is reported. PEO-b-PNIPAM polymers with azobenzene moieties were prepared and analyzed by turbidimetry, fluorescence, NMR and DLS measurements. A temperature controlled reversible formation as well as a light induced disruption and reformation of micellar structures in water was found.

ChemInform Abstract: Light Induced C-C Coupling of 2-Chlorobenzazoles with Carbamates, Alcohols, and Ethers.

2016

A light induced, transition-metal-free C-C coupling reaction of 2-chlorobenzazoles with aliphatic carbamates, alcohols, and ethers is presented. Inexpensive reagents, namely sodium acetate, benzophenone, water, and acetonitrile, are employed in a simple reaction protocol using a cheap and widely available 25 W energy saving UV-A lamp at ambient temperature.
