A multi-reading method for dosimetric TL measurements with CaSO4:Dy phosphors

Abstract A technique of dosimetric TL measurement for CaSO 4 :Dy phosphors is proposed. It is based on the results obtained in previous works, in which an approximately multi-Gaussian energetic distribution of the traps associated with the dosimetric peak and a different supralinear behaviour of the Gaussians were found. A single dosimeter is read a number of times by successive heating cycles which, starting always from room temperature, reach higher and higher final temperatures; in this manner it is possible to obtain consistent information on the dose several times. Cross-Kerr nonlinearity: a stability analysis

We analyse the combined effect of the radiation-pressure and cross-Kerr nonlinearity on the stationary solution of the dynamics of a nanomechanical resonator interacting with an electromagnetic cavity. Within this setup, we show how the optical bistability picture induced by the radiation-pressure force is modified by the presence of the cross-Kerr interaction term. More specifically, we show how the optically bistable region, characterising the pure radiation-pressure case, is reduced by the presence of a cross-Kerr coupling term. Electrooptic beam deflection with latex

The use of latex in electrooptic devices is proposed. The static non linearity coefficient is shown to be approximatively 200 times the optical one. Cell-average multiresolution based on local polynomial regression. Application to image processing

In Harten (1996) [32] presented a general framework about multiresolution representation based on four principal operators: decimation and prediction, discretization and reconstruction. The discretization operator indicates the nature of the data. In this work the pixels of a digital image are obtained as the average of a function in some defined cells. A family of Harten cell-average multiresolution schemes based on local polynomial regression is presented. Tests of quark-hadron duality in tau-decays

An exhaustive number of QCD finite energy sum rules for $\tau$-decay together with the latest updated ALEPH data is used to test the assumption of global duality. Typical checks are the absence of the dimension $d=2$ condensate, the equality of the gluon condensate extracted from vector or axial vector spectral functions, the Weinberg sum rules, the chiral condensates of dimensions $d=6$ and $d=8$, as well as the extraction of some low-energy parameters of chiral perturbation theory. COST 241 intercomparison of nonlinear refractive index measurements in dispersion shifted optical fibres at =1550 nm

COST 241 measurements of the nonlinear refractive index, n/sub 2/, exhibit a large scatter depending on the specific measurement technique. This is largely due to the electrostrictive contribution to the Kerr nonlinearity, as is revealed by the resonant behaviour of n/sub 2/ (with peak values up to 3.9 10/sup -20/ m/sup 2/ W/sup -1/) observed with signal modulation frequencies in the 0.11 GHz range.

Energy-weighted M1 sum rule with explicit δ degrees of freedom

Abstract The influence of Δ degrees of freedom on the energy-weighted M1 sum rule is investigated and applied to 2 H and 4 He. Using π- and ρ-exchange potentials a reduction of the potential contribution of the order of 50% is obtained. The absolute value of the sum rule is strongly dependent on the short-range behaviour of the nuclear wave function. Furthermore, the contribution of c.m. effects is evaluated and found to be of the order of 5–10%.

A Multi-Port Approach to Solve Distribution Networks with Meshes and PV Nodes

A new methodology based on the backward/forward (b/f) technique for the load flow solution in distribution systems is here proposed. The methodology takes efficiently into account the fixed voltage nodes and uses a reduced bus impedance matrix. In this way, it is possible to attain, for the unknowns at the PV nodes, the same values that are attainable solving the network with the methods adopted for transmission systems.
