Powinności kształcenia językowego w L1 a niektóre aspekty lingwistyki poststrukturalistycznej
2022
The article is a part of the discussion on language education in L1 in a modern school. The vision presented in it is based on poststructuralist linguistic concepts, in which language is perceived in a non-systemic way, giving it a humanistic, anthropological-subjective, and cognitive dimension. The author discusses three good practice proposals as examples that fit into the presented didactic concept: in the first, writing character profiles was considered a story that interprets oneself and the world, in the second dictionary-phraseological exercises were assigned the function of changing the perception of reality, the third is an attempt to create a methodology based on the achievements …
Observacions sobre la posició dels subjectes postverbals en català i castellà
2007
This is a comparative study of the different positions of postverbal subjects in two closely related languages that nevertheless show clear differences in this respect. The comparative study will allow us to reject the idea that postverbal subjects in Romance languages are in a unique in situ position Spec VP as has been proposed recently (Motapayane1995, Ordóñez 1998, Costa 2000, Alexiadou i Anagnostopoulou 2001, Cardinaletti 2001). On the contrary, this study will show clearly that there is a need for two positions for postverbal subjects in order to understand the parametric differences between Catalan and Spanish. The general hypothesis will be that the subjects can access a higher Spec…
Finnish L2 proficiency for working life : towards research-based language education and supervision practices
2021
In all Nordic countries, the L2 proficiency needed at work has become a key area in the language education provided for adult immigrants. This paper is part of a series of articles that gives an overview of language policies and research activities in the Nordic countries related to L2 in working life, together with a presentation of novel empirical analyses. Here, the focus is on the Finnish perspective. The aims of this paper are twofold. First, it provides an overall picture of the policies and research findings underlying recent tendencies in Finnish L2 language education in/for working life. After this, the article presents two case studies of clinical supervision practices in health c…
Articulating the Practice Architectures of Collaborative Research Practice
2016
This chapter explores a collaborative practice of comparative data analysis through the researching activities of four researchers from Australia and Finland. We interrogate the ontological and empirical reality we experienced while engaged in a practice of analysing narrative data on mentoring. In this chapter, we are not reporting on the outcomes of our analysis of mentoring practice; instead we focus on our collaborative engagement, articulating the practice architectures of our research practice. This collaborative research practice was pre-figured by: (1) philosophical traditions instituted through a theory of practice architectures; and (2) normalised practices of researching mentorin…
Time Deixis in Engineering Discourse
2021
Nowadays, it has become commonly accepted that the meaning of linguistic elements is interconnected with the context of their use. Deixis is one of the classical pragmatic phenomena that illustrates that context-dependence is inherent in language as meaning of deictic expressions cannot be constructed without the identification of the speech event where these expressions occurred. The present article discusses cases of time deixis in the context of engineering discourse. The goal of the research is to demonstrate how the deictic expression use in different genres of professional discourse impacts meaning construction. The study deals with the data obtained from scientific articles, encyclop…

2018
This paper purports to shed light on primary school teachers’ initial training in the field of creative writing, rewriting and rough draft practices. It analyses a corpus of various pieces of writing by school children and trainee teachers, collected through the implementation of a teaching unit using authors’ and children’s literature writers’ drafts and working documents with children aged 8-11 (CE2-CM) on the one hand, and with trainee teachers on the other. As part of a seminar on introduction to research, these trainee teachers thus questioned their own writing practices, their conception of rewriting and their teaching practices
“Čut’ živye, v noč’ osennjuju / My s ochoty vozvraščaemsja…” Secondary predicate in Nekrasov’s poetic texts
2021
The main aim of the article is to examine the grammatical and stylistic functions of the predicative attribute in the poetic work of Nekrasov. The study contributes to the general ‘grammar of poetry’, which has been proposed and developed by Roman Jakobson. The study shows that Nekrasov often used the predicative attribute and it constitutes one of the specific features of his style. Grammatically extended adjectival, participial and adverbial phrases, frequent in Nekrasov’s poetry, cause additional predication, which makes it possible to expand the narrative. The predicative attribute often combines the functions of an attribute with those of the adverbial modifiers of cause and consequenc…
