Local anaesthetics (LAs) are commonly used in surgery, especially in dentistry. They cause a transitory inhibition of nerve signal due to the blockade of the voltage-gated sodium channels. LAs are administrated alone or with vasoconstriction agents, such as adrenaline. Toxicity of LAs is associated to neurological and cardiovascular alterations. Tachycardia, arrhythmia, tremors, tonic-clonic seizure and respiratory depression (at high doses) are the main symptoms of intoxication by LAs. An effective negative pressure cavitation-microwave assisted extraction for determination of phenolic compounds in P. calliantha H. Andr.

A novel negative pressure and microwave assisted extraction technique (NMAE) was first proposed and applied for extraction of phenolic compounds from pyrola. [C₄MIM]BF₄ aqueous solution was selected as extraction solvent. Optimal extraction conditions were microwave power 700 W, negative pressure -0.07 MPa, temperature 40 °C, liquid-solid ratio 20 : 1, ionic liquid (IL) concentration 0.5 M, extraction time 15 min. The predominance of NMAE was investigated by comparing with microwave-assisted extraction (MAE) and negative pressure cavitation extraction (NPCE) using a first-order kinetics equation. This review focuses on the existing analytical procedures for the determination of new psychoactive substances (NPS) in biological fluids by chromatographic methods. Determination of 60 Migrant Substances in Plastic Food Contact Materials by Vortex-Assisted Liquid-Liquid Extraction and GC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS

A GC-HRMS analytical method for the determination of 60 migrant substances, including aldehydes, ketones, phthalates and other plasticizers, phenol derivatives, acrylates, and methacrylates, in plastic food contact materials (FCM) has been developed and validated. The proposed method includes migration tests, according to Commission Regulation (EU) 10/2011, using four food simulants (A, B, C, and D1), followed by vortex-assisted liquid–liquid extraction (VA-LLE) and GC-Q-Orbitrap HRMS analysis in selected ion monitoring (SIM) mode, with a resolving power of 30,000 FWHM and a mass accuracy ≤5 ppm. Rare earth elements (REE) are important in numerous high technology applications and in addition their supply risk is high, which gives rise to studying new sources for rare earth elements. Rare earth element concentrations in industrial fly ash samples collected from Finnish power plants, using a mixture of peat and biomass as a fuel, have been determined. In many industrial processes the presence of zinc in the wastewater may represent an obstacle to its high efficient regeneration. This is the case of the treatment of spent pickling solutions aiming the recovery of hydrochloric acid via pyrohydrolysis techniques. Recovering of zinc(II) from spent pickling solutions by liquid-liquid extraction

Hydrochloric acid can be successfully recovered from spent pickling liquors with high efficiencies via pyrohydrolysis techniques. In the pickling solution feed, other metallic ions are typically present besides iron (mainly Fe2+) such as zinc(II). In order to avoid undesirable effects, zinc(II) has to be removed, because zinc chloride evaporates and sticks to the reactor walls, as well as it contaminates iron oxides product1.
