TCNQ radical salts containing magnetic complexes: Different interaction modes of TCNQ with Copper tetraazamacrocycles

Abstract This work is devoted to the study of compounds [M(N 4 )](TCNQ) n , where N 4 = saturated or unsaturated tetraazamacrocycles, TCNQ= 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane, n= 2, 3. The metal is coordinated to two TCNQ groups only when there is coordinative unsaturation on it. When n= 2 all the TCNQ units are radical anions and no charge delocalization is observed. In the compounds with n= 3 only 2 3 of the TCNQ are negatively charged and a greater charge delocalization is possible. This delocalization only appears when none of the TCNQ's are coordinated to the metal and it is reflected in the higher conductivity values obtained in the solid state.
Were the chaotic ELMs in TCV the result of an ARMA process?

The results of a previous paper claiming the demonstration that edge localized mode (ELM) dynamics on TCV are chaotic in a number of cases has recently been called into question, because the statistical test employed was found to also identify linear auto regressive—moving average (ARMA) models as chaotic. The TCV ELM data has therefore been re-examined with an improved method that is able to make this distinction, and the ARMA model is found to be an inappropriate description of the dynamics on TCV. The hypothesis that ELM dynamics are chaotic on TCV in a number of cases is therefore still favoured.
Annealing of color centers in LiBaF 3

Results of the glow rate technique to analyze the activation energy of thermostimulated annealing of X-ray created F -type color centers in LiBaF 3 crystals are presented, showing pure and containing oxygen centers. It is shown that depending on the impurity composition two alternative mechanisms are involved in the annealing of color centers. It is proposed that either the anion vacancy governed migration of F -centers resulting in recombination with complementary defects, or the thermal delocalization of radiation created fluorine ( F i ) interstitials captured by anti-structure defects followed by recombination with all kinds of complementary F -type centers are responsible for the recom…

Abstract Background Overall survival (OS) is the gold standard for the demonstration of a clinical benefit in cancer trials. Replacement of OS by a surrogate endpoint allows to reduce trial duration. To date, few surrogate endpoints have been validated in digestive oncology. Refractive micro-optical elements for surface plasmons: from classical to gradient index optics.

Controlling the propagation of surface plasmons along a metal-dielectric interface is a key feature for the development of surface plasmon based circuits. We have designed various two-dimensional refractive dielectric optical elements for surface plasmons (SP) and characterized their capacity to route SP, using near- or far-field techniques. We first present basic devices analogous to usual optical components and the associated challenges for SP optics. We then use a metamaterial approach to locally vary the refractive index and fabricate gradient index structures for SP circuitry.

In-plane remote photoluminescence excitation of carbon nanotube by propagating surface plasmon

International audience; In this work, we demonstrate propagating surface plasmon polariton (SPP) coupled photoluminescence (PL) excitation of single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT). SPPs were launched at a few micrometers from individually marked SWNT, and plasmon-coupled PL was recorded to determine the efficiency of this remote in-plane addressing scheme. The efficiency depends upon the following factors: (i) longitudinal and transverse distances between the SPP launching site and the location of the SWNT and (ii) orientation of the SWNT with respect to the plasmon propagation wave vector (k(SPP)).
