TUMORS OF THE LATERAL AND THIRD VENTRICLE

2005

Abstract OBJECTIVE: Intraventricular tumors usually are managed by approaches and microsurgical techniques that need retraction and dissection of important brain structures. Minimally invasive endoscopic procedures achieve a remarkable alternative to conventional microneurosurgical techniques. Endoscope-assisted microneurosurgery may be a minimally invasive technique with maximally effective treatment. Using the keyhole concept for planning the surgical strategy, the reduction of the brain retraction is achieved, which is one of the main benefits of this technique. METHODS: We treated 35 patients (16 female patients and 19 male patients) with tumors in the lateral (n = 8) and the third (n =…

Contralateral and ipsilateral microsurgical approaches to carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms.

1997

Objective The vicinity of carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms to the roof of the cavernous sinus, to the anterior clinoid process, and to the optic nerve or the optic chiasm requires well-defined surgical techniques. Although microsurgical techniques with ipsilateral direct approaches to these aneurysms have been described in detail, studies about contralateral strategies for the microsurgical treatment of carotid-ophthalmic aneurysms are rare and are mainly confined to case reports. The aim of this study is to describe how to decide on the ipsilateral and contralateral microsurgical approaches to such aneurysms and to demonstrate the surgical techniques for the ipsilateral and contralateral expos…

Impression(s)

2019

The articles presented in this cluster discuss literary and visual impressions from the premise that literary impressionism and printmaking share the trope of impression as “impress” and as “imprints” in a technical and epistemological sense. Most works on Impressionism and literary impressionism dwell on the genealogy and mutual influence of fiction and painting, but few authors tackle the importance of printmaking. The five essays presented here all examine impressions as theme, trope and technique in 19th and 20th-century texts and images. These essays discuss intermedial practices, the mutual influence of artistic practice and textual production, as well as the dual meaning of impressio…

Alessandro Costariol. Remote future visual designer

2010

If you could define a person with only one term, to have a concise, sharp and lapidary picture of him, then I think the word I'd choose to refer to Alessandro Costariol, is timeless. This is a rather recent term, coined in the twentieth century, expression of contemporaneity, recurrent in the philosophical and linguistic fields, which marks a break in continuity between object and time, giving the first a privileged status that allows it to cross the second, ign…

Exposer l’âge du Bronze

2021

Exhibitions about the Bronze Age in France are quire a recent affair and only eighteen temporary exhibitions, most with their own catalogue, have been curated since 1986. This conference has given us the opportunity to overviev, the exhibitions that have given eirher a regional perspective of the Bronze Age or have focused on a particular theme. ln the last few years, several exhibitions have highlighred non-funerary metal deposits. The museography and public ourreach have varied for each exhibition, but ail have dealt with the difficult question of recontextualisation and how we understand and interpret archaeological data. This is particularly relevant, as the public still knows lirrle o…

Revival of local masking traditions in Latvia as the result of cooperation between performers and researchers:

2012

At a time when it is possible to identify oneself with the global and universal, an opposite process is also occurring: an increase in interest in the local. This article describes the process of renewing three previously interrupted traditions. Is it possible to reconstruct a tradition at all, and what are the general conditions of cooperation between the researchers and participants to ensure a successful process?
