Recent compelling evidences from rodent and human studies raise the possibility for an additional sixth taste modality devoted to oro-gustatory perception of dietary lipids. Understanding the mechanisms underlying oro-gustatory detection of dietary fat is critical for the prevention and treatment of obesity. A number of studies have suggested that lingual CD36, a glycoprotein, highly expressed by circumvallate papillae of the tongue, is implicated in the perception of dietary fat taste. Integrability of the one dimensional Schrödinger equation

We present a definition of integrability for the one dimensional Schroedinger equation, which encompasses all known integrable systems, i.e. systems for which the spectrum can be explicitly computed. For this, we introduce the class of rigid functions, built as Liouvillian functions, but containing all solutions of rigid differential operators in the sense of Katz, and a notion of natural boundary conditions. We then make a complete classification of rational integrable potentials. Many new integrable cases are found, some of them physically interesting.

Multi-model simulations of a convective situation in low-mountain terrain in central Europe

The goal of the present study is to investigate the variability of simulated convective precipitation by three convection-resolving models using different set-ups and initial and boundary conditions. The COSMO, MM5 and WRF models have been used to simulate the atmospheric situation on 12 July 2006, when local convection occurred in central Europe under weak synoptic forcing. The focus of this investigation is on the convective precipitation in the northern Black Forest in South-West Germany. The precipitation fields from the nine model simulations differ considerably. Globalization of Monitoring Practices: The Case of American Influences on the Dismissal Risk of European CEOs

Accepted version of an article from the Journal of Economics and Business This study examines globalization of monitoring practices by focusing on how American (U.S.) influences on European firms impact the dismissal risk for these firms' CEOs. Specifically, we argue that the stronger short term orientation of the American corporate governance system increase the dismissal performance sensitivity faced by European CEOs, indirectly and directly. The former materializes via European firms cross-listing on U.S. exchanges, the latter results from European firms hiring U.S. independent board members. Abstract Several exogenous and endogenous compounds have been discovered that act on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors as non-competitive agonists (NCA) of low efficacy, and probably also as allosteric regulators of the receptor's sensitivity to acetylcholine. Nicotinic NCAs may be viewed as another facet in the increasingly complex picture of vertebrate brain organization, i.e. they may be part of a higher level ‘chemical’ network that overlays the neuronal network of the CNS. Furthermore, exogenous NCAs may provide a new therapeutic approach to Alzheimer's dementia.
