Sporu-veidojošā C. perfringens ir nozīmīgs organisms ūdens vidē, ko izmanto kā indikatororganismu dzeramā ūdens kvalitātes noteikšanai. Turklāt šī baktērija un tās sporas ir noderīgas, lai brīdinātu par citu stresa rezistento patogēnu iespējamo klātbūtni dzeramajā ūdenī. Atbilstoši Ministru kabineta noteikumiem Nr. 235, Clostridium perfringens noteikšanai un uzskaitei jāizmanto membrānfiltrācija un tālāka mikroorganismu kultivēšana. Tomēr izpētīts, ka kultivēšanas metodes nespēj identificēt ūdenī esošus nekultivējamus bet dzīvotspējīgus mikroorganismus (VBNC). Abstract Purpose To biomechanically profile force generation connected to the complex role of the trunk in double poling in a representative sample of Para-Nordic sit-skiers. Methods Twelve male World Cup Para-Nordic sit-skiers (sport classes: LW10–12) were skiing on flat snow terrain at submaximal speed of 4.5 m/s (~ 73% maximum speed). 2D video (50 Hz) and pole force analyses (1000 Hz) were performed synchronously, examining angle, force and cycle characteristics to analyse the role of the trunk in generating propulsion. GEM-TPC-ilmaisimen testimittausten datan analyysi

GEM-TPC-ilmaisin on kaasutäytteinen hiukkasilmaisin, jolla pystytään mittaaamaan hyvin pieniä sähköisiä signaaleja ja niiden syntypaikkaa ilmaisimessa. Näitä ilmaisimia tullaan tulevaisuudessa käyttämään mm. FAIRtutkimuslaitoksen Super-FRS-nimisessä fragmenttiseparaattorissa. Tässä tutkielmassa analysoin kesällä 2016 GEM-TPC:llä GSI:ssä suoritettuja ilmaisintestimittauksia ROOT-ohjelmiston avulla. Alkuun kerron, miksi GEM-TPC-ilmaisin on lähdetty suunnittelemaan, minkälaisia mittauksia ja missä sillä on tarkoitus tehdä. Tutkielman loppupuolella analysoin testimittausten tuloksia. Transitioning from adolescence to adulthood appears to be a challenging period for young people living with cerebral palsy. The aim of this review was to highlight the challenges that might be experienced during this period. A systematic search of the literature and meta-ethnographic review examined seven qualitative research papers providing a detailed synthesis in the form of three domains summarised as ‘meaningful preparation for transition’, ‘becoming empowered’, and, ‘overcoming vulnerability’. AbstractLimited research has been conducted about ageing in place among older parents who co-habit with their ageing offspring with intellectual disability (ID). This study aims to explore which older parents would choose ageing in place together with their ageing offspring with ID instead of moving and what factors are associated with this choice. A face-to-face interview was conducted using the ‘housing pathways’ framework with older parents (⩾60 years) co-habiting with their ageing offspring with ID (⩾40 years) from two local authorities in Taiwan. Association of poverty and social exclusion with body mass index among Special Olympics athletes in Europe.

Objectives To examine the association of a risk of poverty and social exclusion (AROPE), age, and gender with the body mass index (BMI) status of European Special Olympics athletes. Methods BMI records were available for 1905 children and youth and 5517 adults from the Special Olympics International (SOI) Health Promotion database. AROPE was extracted from EU Eurostat statistics. Logistic regression analyses were used to predict BMI status. Results For children/youth and adults, respectively, 9.4 and 6.3% were underweight and 25.3 and 44.6% were overweight/obese. Being underweight was significantly associated with higher AROPE rates.
