Applications of level shift corrected perturbation theory in electronic spectroscopy

1996

Abstract Multiconfigurational second-order perturbation theory (CASPT2) with a level shift technique used to reduce the effect of intruder states has been tested for applications in electronic spectroscopy. The following molecules have been studied: formamide, adenine, stilbene, Ni(CO) 4 , and a model compound for the active site in the blue copper protein plastocyanin, Cu(Im) 2 (SH)(SH 2 ) + . The results show that the level shift technique can be used to remove the effects of the intruder states in all these molecules. In some cases a drift in the energies as a function of the level shift is observed, which however is small enough that the normal error bar for CASPT2 excitation energies (…

Crystal structure and Hirshfeld surface analysis of (E)-4-chloro-N-{2-[2-(4-nitrobenzylidene)hydrazin-1-yl]-2-oxoethyl}benzenesulfonamide N,N-di…

2018

Reaction of N-(4-chlorobenzenesulfonyl)glycinyl hydrazide with 4-nitrobenzaldehyde gives the N,N-dimethylformamide monosolvated N-acylhydrazone derivative, (E)-N-{2-[2-(4-nitrobenzylidene)- hydrazine-1-yl]-2-oxoethyl}-4-χhlorobenzenesulfonamide. Rings of (10) and (11) graph-set motifs are formed in the crystal structure by N—H⋯O and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The two-dimensional fingerprint (FP) plots for significant intermolecular interactions indicate that the greatest contribution is from the O⋯H/H⋯O contacts (31.3%), corresponding to N⋯H⋯O/C⋯H⋯O interactions.

Applications of flow cytometry to toxicological mycotoxin effects in cultured mammalian cells: a review.

2013

This review gives an overview of flow cytometry applications to toxicological studies of several physiological target sites of mycotoxins on different mammalian cell lines. Mycotoxins are secondary metabolites of fungi that may be present in food, feed, air and water. The increasing presence of mycotoxins in crops, their wide distribution in the food chain, and their potential for toxicity demonstrate the need for further knowledge. Flow cytometry has become a valuable tool in mycotoxin studies in recent years for the rapid analysis of single cells in a mixture. In toxicology, the power of these methods lies in the possibility of determining a wide range of cell parameters, providing valuab…

Glutathione metabolism under the influence of hydroperoxides in the lactating mammary gland of the rat. Effect of glucose and extracellular ATP.

1987

Tert-butyl hydroperoxide decreases GSH and total free glutathione (GSH+2GSSG) contents of acini from lactating mammary glands. The decrease in total free glutathione can be explained by an increase in mixed disulfide formation and by excretion of GSS G to the extracellular medium, and subsequent degradation catalyzed by gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase. Low concentrations of glucose prevented the changes in glutathione levels induced by the peroxide. In the presence of extracellular ATP, glucose did not prevent these changes. However, incubations with the peroxide, did not alter the rate of other metabolic pathways by acini.

Distributed medical images analysis on a Grid infrastructure

2007

In this paper medical applications on a Grid infrastructure, the MAGIC-5 Project, are presented and discussed. MAGIC-5 aims at developing Computer Aided Detection (CADe) software for the analysis of medical images on distributed databases by means of GRID Services. The use of automated systems for analyzing medical images improves radiologists’ performance; in addition, it could be of paramount importance in screening programs, due to the huge amount of data to check and the cost of related manpower. The need for acquiring and analyzing data stored in different locations requires the use of Grid Services for the management of distributed computing resources and data. Grid technologies allow…
