New Tripentone Analogs with Antiproliferative Activity

Tripentones represent an interesting class of compounds due to their significant cytotoxicity against different human tumor cells in the submicro-nanomolar range. New tripentone analogs, in which a pyridine moiety replaces the thiophene ring originating the fused azaindole system endowed with anticancer activity viz 8H-thieno[2,3-b]pyrrolizinones, were efficiently synthesized in four steps with fair overall yields (34–57%). All tripentone derivatives were tested in the range of 0.1–100 μM for cytotoxicity against two human tumor cell lines, HCT-116 (human colorectal carcinoma) and MCF-7 (human breast cancer). Filling the Gap in the Metallacrown Family: The 9‐MC‐3 Chromium Metallacrown

Abstract In this work, we report on a long‐sought missing complex in the metallacrown family. We synthesized and characterized the novel chromium metallacrown (MC) complex {CrIII(μ 2‐piv)3[9‐MCCr(III)N(shi)‐3](morph)3}⋅MeOH (in which shi3−=salicyl hydroxamate, piv=pivalate, and morph=morpholine). The MC with a 9‐MC‐3 cavity of kinetically inert chromium(III) ions was synthesized by a solvothermal reaction. Magnetization measurements reveal a high spin ground state.
Redescription of allencotyla mcintoshi price, 1962 (monogenea), with an emended diagnosis of allencotyla price, 1962

The original description of the type species of Allencotyla, A. mcintoshi Price, 1962, was based on 5 specimens collected from 1 amberjack Seriola lalandi in Florida. In this study, A. mcintoshi is redescribed based on new specimens collected from juvenile greater amberjacks S. dumerili captured off the Spanish Mediterranean coast and maintained in experimental culture tanks. Except for a slightly smaller size, individuals of S. dumerili were morphologically similar to the type specimens. El esfuerzo internacional para el control del tabaco incorporó el marco de los derechos humanos de forma tardía y -paradójicamente- después de que los derechos se alegaran frente a las medidas antitabaco. A pesar de lo avanzado, el marco de derechos humanos todavía tiene potencialidades por explorar en este ámbito. Así, cabría pensar en un uso no defensivo sino proactivo de los derechos, especialmente para la protección de grupos especialmente vulnerables. Además, combinado con el marco de los determinantes sociales de la salud, habría que afrontar que, en diferentes contextos, la mortalidad y morbilidad asociada al tabaco se reparte de forma inequitativa. El carácter como predictor de trastornos de la personalidad en adictos: la tipología caracterial de Cloninger y su abordaje psicosocial

El presente estudio aborda las relaciones de las dimensiones caracteriales del modelo de Cloninger con los trastornos de la personalidad. Se obtiene una muestra de sujetos (N=565) que inician tratamiento por conductas adictivas en un centro ambulatorio (CAD 4 San Blas, Instituto de Adicciones, Madrid Salud), y cumplimentan el TCI-R, el MCMI-II, el VIP y el CCE-R. Según los criterios de Cloninger y, mediante análisis discriminante, son clasificados en los diferentes tipos caracteriales. Abstract The purpose of our study was to define a method and mechanism for overcoming the resistance of clinically relevant KRAS-mutant/LKB1-deficient NSCLC cells to the BET-bromodomain inhibitor JQ1. LKB1 (Serine/threonine kinase 11) is mutated with loss of function in conjunction with mutated KRAS in 7-10% of NSCLC. Importantly, KRAS-mutant/LKB1-deficiency is associated with tumor aggressiveness and poor survival in human patients as well as in genetically engineered mouse models. Indeed, although the BET bromodomain inhibitor JQ1 dramatically reduces tumor volume in KRAS mutant mice, it has little effect in KRAS-mutant/LKB1-deficient mice. Yield measurements at IGISOL with a digital data acquisition system

A new digital data acquisition system has been installed at the IGISOL facility at the department of Physics in University of Jyväskylä in November, 2016. The technical details of the hardware and software of this new system are presented in this thesis. Nutaq VHS-ADC digital data acquisition system includes an analogue to digital converter (ADC) crate board, an offset unit box, an acquisition host PC, and a storage drive. This system consists of 8 channels, has the capability of 105 MSPS with 14-bit ADCs on 6U cPCI (PXI compatible).
