Multi‐criteria decision‐making approach for modular enterprise resource planning sorting problems
2021
[EN] Implementing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is currently recognized as a best practice with wide associated possibilities of business improvement for companies. Integrating these kinds of systems with business processes in the most efficient way requires to endeavour as much as possible simplifications for final users, which can be pursued by optimizing crucial software characteristics. The present article proposes a novel Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach to deal with such an issue. Specifically, the ELECTRE (ELimination Et Choix Traduisant la REalite) TRI technique is suggested to assign ERP modules into predefined and ordered categories according to maintain…
An Introduction to Multiobjective Optimization
2016
Multiobjective optimization in industry has rapidly grown in importance, as it provides the possibility for a designer or an engineer to consider the problem in hand as a whole. Solution to a multiobjective optimization problem involves several optimal solutions with different trade-offs. As a result upon optimization s(he) can understand the trade-offs between different solutions and subsequently choose the most preferred solution. In this paper, we provide a bird’s eye view of the different methods available in the literature to solve multiobjective optimization problems. Specifically, in literature there exists at least two different research fields i.e. multiple criteria decision making…
Mboat7 down-regulation by hyper-insulinemia induces fat accumulation in hepatocytes.
2020
Background: Naturally occurring variation in Membrane-bound O-acyltransferase domain-containing 7 (MBOAT7), encoding for an enzyme involved in phosphatidylinositol acyl-chain remodelling, has been associated with fatty liver and hepatic disorders. Here, we examined the relationship between hepatic Mboat7 down-regulation and fat accumulation. Methods: Hepatic MBOAT7 expression was surveyed in 119 obese individuals and in experimental models. MBOAT7 was acutely silenced by antisense oligonucleotides in C57Bl/6 mice, and by CRISPR/Cas9 in HepG2 hepatocytes. Findings: In obese individuals, hepatic MBOAT7 mRNA decreased from normal liver to steatohepatitis, independently of diabetes, inflammatio…
Ejaculation Disorders in Male Patients with Cancer: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Prevalence
2021
PURPOSE: Ejaculatory dysfunction (EjD) and erectile dysfunction after cancer treatment are clinically important complications, but their exact prevalence by various kinds of cancer site and type of treatment is unknown. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to examine the available evidence and provide pooled estimates for prevalence of EjD and erectile dysfunction in relation to all cancer sites and identify characteristics associated with EjD in cancer patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of cross-sectional and case-control studies. We searched 4 electronic databases (Medline®, CINAHL, PsychInfo and Embase®) until July 22, 2…

Fuzzy ServPerf model combined with ELECTRE III to comparatively evaluate service quality of international airports in Sicily
2015
In this paper a new approach was proposed so as to comparatively evaluate the quality of service alternatives. In particular, a fuzzy extension of the ServPerf service conceptual model was considered to estimate quality scores of fundamental service criteria, whereas the non-compensative multi-criteria decision-making ELECTRE III method was employed to point out the quality ranking of service alternatives on the basis of which the comparative service quality analysis was performed. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach, an empirical study concerning service quality evaluation of the three international airports in Sicily (Italy) was conducted with detailed proposals fo…
A composite indicator index as a proxy for measuring the quality of water supply as perceived by users for urban water services
2021
Abstract The objective of this study is to develop a composite indicator (CI) to measure the quality of water supply based on the variables that are considered to affect users’ perceptions of water supply quality. The proposed CI includes six relevant aspects that determine users’ perceptions of water supply quality (network quality, water quality, water price, complaints, inconvenience caused by upgrading the network, and continuity of service) in a simple, economical, and objective way, using multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) with weights based on data envelopment analysis (DEA). The CI was applied to 32 municipalities in the metropolitan area of Valencia (Spain). The results show t…
DEMATEL-based consensual selection of suitable maintenance KPIs
2018
This paper aims to highlight the fundamental role of Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) tools to perform efficiently in such a complex field as industrial maintenance. Typically, a strategic plan of maintenance interventions has to be first implemented and then continuously checked by maintenance management. Given the importance to monitor the quality and suitability of the undertaken choices, the Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL) method is herein suggested to evaluate some of the most important maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on the basis of their mutual relationships. DEMATEL is particularly adequate to take into account interdependencies existing …
Quantum computing challenges in the software industry. A fuzzy AHP-based approach
2022
Context The current technology revolution has posed unexpected challenges for the software industry. In recent years, the field of quantum computing (QC) technologies has continued to grow in influence and maturity, and it is now poised to revolutionise software engineering. However, the evaluation and prioritisation of QC challenges in the software industry remain unexplored, relatively under-identified and fragmented. Objective The purpose of this study is to identify, examine and prioritise the most critical challenges in the software industry by implementing a fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (F-AHP). Method First, to identify the key challenges, we conducted a systematic literature rev…
Some consistency issues in multi-criteria decision making
2017
The complexity of decision-making problems included under the multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) paradigm has favored the proliferation of many schools of thought and varied methodologies. It has not yet been possible to prove the supremacy of any of these approaches. Moreover, in some cases it is difficult to combine the theoretical validity of the approximations with their practical appropriateness. It seems that rigor and applicability are two opposing concepts, something that should not be so. It is our responsibility to bridge the gap. To reduce the gap between theory and practice and use effective methodological approaches, it is necessary to combine the rigor and objectivity of tr…
