Classroom discussions: Possibilities and limitations for democratic classroom practices

Are students offered possibilities to experience democratic practice in classrooms? Using an analysis of empirical data from classroom discussions in lower secondary school, this article identifies and explores two different types of classroom discussions which give students different positions: a conversation in which students are positioned as ‘poll respondents’, and a more deliberative conversation which positions students as learning debaters. The data show the quantitative annual, winter and summer precipitation reconstructions (mm/yr) from southern Iberian Peninsula for the last ~200,000 years (Camuera et al., 2022), based on the previously published fossil pollen data from the Padul-15-05 lake sediment record (Ramos-Román et al., 2018a, b; Camuera et al., 2019, 2021). The Padul-15-05 record, located in southern Spain (37º00'39''N, 3º36'14''W, 726 masl), was retrieved during summer 2015 from the current edge of the lake using a Rolatec RL-48-L hydraulic percussion coring machine. Cleaning is often the survival employment that migrants can get in their new home country. Ideally, the workplace can be a site for integration and language learning. This article explores how two migrants working as cleaners in Finland narrate their work-related Finnish language learning trajectories. In this paper, we consider a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided simultaneously localization and communication system. We first determine the sum squared position error bound (SPEB) as the localization accuracy metric for the presented localization-communication system. Thermoelectric radiation detector based on a superconductor-ferromagnet junction : Calorimetric regime

We study the use of a thermoelectric junction as a thermal radiation detector in the calorimetric regime, where single radiation bursts can be separated in time domain. We focus especially on the case of a large thermoelectric figure of merit ZT affecting significantly, for example, the relevant thermal time scales. This work is motivated by the use of hybrid superconductor/ferromagnet systems in creating an unprecedentedly high low-temperature ZT even exceeding unity.
