Gastroezofageālā atviļņa slimība un tās ārstēšanai paredzēto medikamentu aprite triju Latvijas pilsētu aptiekās

2018

FT-Raman determination of Mepiquat chloride in agrochemical products

2004

Abstract A fast and environmentally friendly procedure has been developed for Fourier transform Raman (FT-Raman) determination of a quaternary ammonium compound, Mepiquat chloride, in pesticide emulsifiable concentrate formulations. The method is based on the measurement of peak area values between 711 and 701 cm −1 corrected using a baseline defined at 620 cm −1 and interpolated in an external calibration of Mepiquat chloride standards dissolved in water. FT-Raman spectra were collected over 1.5 min from samples confined in screw cap standard chromatographic glass vials, at a nominal resolution of 4 cm −1 accumulating 25 scans per spectra and using a laser power of 1000 mW. Five commercial…

Laser Therapy for Infected Sites and Immediate Dental Implants in the Esthetic Zone: A Case Report and Review of Literature

2020

Placement of postextraction dental implants has become a common practice. Here, we reviewed current literature, along with clinical procedures, outcomes, and incidence of complications, associated with immediate implants in infected postextraction sites. The YSGG (yttrium, scandium, gallium, and garnet) laser can significantly reduce the bacterial concentration after extracting a compromised tooth. We treated a 40-year-old woman with a compromised tooth in the esthetic zone, presenting clinical and radiological signs of infection, particularly a periapical periodontitis. The tooth was extracted after administering local anesthesia using Optocain® (mepivacaine and adrenalin 1 : 100,000), fol…

Oxidized respiratory molecules induced in vivo by nitrite in Pontodrilus littoralis (oligochaeta)

1992

Abstract 1. The in vivo effect of nitrite has been investigated in Pontodrilus littoralis. 2. Exposure of the animals at nitrite concentrations (0.05–0.1%) produced methaemoglobin and hemichromes. 3. Disappearance of oxidized forms was obtained when normal rearing conditions were restored. 4. Longer exposure to higher nitrite concentrations produced irreversible oxidized forms.

Treatment of patients with duodenal ulcer positive for helicobacter pylori infection: ranitidine or omeprazole associated with colloidal bismuth subc…

1996

Abstract This study evaluated treatment of patients affected with duodenal ulcer positive for Helicobacter pylori . We compared patients treated with ranitidine plus amoxicillin plus colloidal bismuth subcitrate (n = 20) with patients treated with omeprazole plus amoxicillin plus colloidal bismuth subcitrate (n = 20) with regard to: (1) healing of duodenal ulcer; (2) eradication of H pylori ; and (3) recurrence of ulcer. Baseline and follow-up for 24 months were performed through clinical, laboratory, and endoscopic tests. The ulcer healing rate was 95% in the ranitidine group and 100% in the omeprazole group; the H pylori eradication rate was 90% and 95%, respectively. During follow-up, on…

Increased Hospital Stay and Allograft Disfunction in Renal Transplant Recipients with Cyp2c19 AA Variant in SNP rs4244285

2012

Pharmacogenetics correlates certain genetic variants, such as single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), with blood drug levels, efficacy, and adverse effects of the treatment. Tacrolimus is mainly metabolized via CYP3A4/5, whereas CYP2C19 and CYP3A4/5 are responsible for omeprazole metabolism. Omeprazole inhibits tacrolimus metabolism via CYP3A5 in patients carrying variant alleles of CYP2C19, increasing tacrolimus blood concentrations. Seventy-five renal transplant recipients treated with tacrolimus and concomitant omeprazole were genotyped in a panel of 37 SNPs with use of Sequenom MassArray. The patients with CYP2C19*2/*2 genotype (n = 4) showed a median posttransplantation hospital stay o…

Analysis of Primary/Containment Coupling Phenomena Characterizing the MASLWR Design During a SBLOCA Scenario

2012

Today considering the world energy demand increase, the use of advanced nuclear power plants, have an important role in the environment and economic sustainability of country energy strategy mix considering the capacity of nuclear reactors of producing energy in safe and stable way contributing in cutting the CO2 emission (Bertel & Morrison, 2001; World Energy Outlook-Executive Summary, 2009; Wolde-Rufael & Menyah, 2010; Mascari et al., 2011d). According to the information’s provided by the “Power Reactor Information System” of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), today 433 nuclear power reactors are in operation in the world providing a total power installed capacity of 366.610 G…

Meprins process matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9)/gelatinase B and enhance the activation kinetics by MMP-3

2012

Abstract Meprin α and β, members of the astacin family of zinc metalloproteinases, are unique plasma membrane and secreted proteases known to cleave a wide range of biological substrates involved in inflammation, cancer and fibrosis. In this study, we identified proMMP-9 as a novel substrate and show that aminoterminal meprin-mediated clipping improves the activation kinetics of proMMP-9 by MMP-3, an efficient activator of proMMP-9. Interestingly, the NH2-terminus LVLFPGDL, generated by incubation with meprin α, is identical to the form produced in conditioned media from human neutrophils and monocytes. Hence, this meprin-mediated processing and enhancement of MMP-9 activation kinetics may …

The substrate degradome of meprin metalloproteases reveals an unexpected proteolytic link between meprin β and ADAM10

2012

The in vivo roles of meprin metalloproteases in pathophysiological conditions remain elusive. Substrates define protease roles. Therefore, to identify natural substrates for human meprin α and β we employed TAILS (terminal amine isotopic labeling of substrates), a proteomics approach that enriches for N-terminal peptides of proteins and cleavage fragments. Of the 151 new extracellular substrates we identified, it was notable that ADAM10 (a disintegrin and metalloprotease domain-containing protein 10)—the constitutive α-secretase—is activated by meprin β through cleavage of the propeptide. To validate this cleavage event, we expressed recombinant proADAM10 and after preincubation with meprin…
