Physicochemical investigation of cobalt?iron cyanide nanoparticles synthesized by a novel solid?solid reaction in confined space

Cobalt–iron cyanide (Cox[Fe(CN)6]) nanoparticles have been synthesized by a novel solid–solid reaction in the confined space of dry sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reversed micelles dispersed in n-heptane. The reaction has been carried out by mixing two dry AOT/n-heptane solutions containing CoCl2 and K4Fe(CN)6 or K3Fe(CN)6 nanoparticles in the micellar core, respectively. By UV-Vis spectroscopy it was ascertained that, after the mixing process, the formation of stable nanoparticles is fast and complete. Cellular Uptake of DNA Block Copolymer Micelles with Different Shapes

The cellular uptake of DNA block copolymer micelles composed of DNA-b-PPO in Caco-2 cells was studied. In particular it was investigated if the shape of micelle aggregates influences the internalization. Rod-like polymeric particles were taken up 12 times more efficiently than their spherical counter parts although they were composed of the same constituents. Furthermore, it was observed that internalization of all the micelle systems was more efficient than the pristine DNA controls. A cytotoxicity assay proved the non-toxic nature of DNA-b-PPO micelle aggregates.

The thermodynamics of conventional surfactants, block copolymers and their mixtures in water was described to the light of the enthalpy function. The two methodologies, i.e. the van't Hoff approach and the isothermal calorimetry, used to determine the enthalpy of micellization of pure surfactants and block copolymers were described. The van't Hoff method was critically discussed. The aqueous copolymer+surfactant mixtures were analyzed by means of the isothermal titration calorimetry and the enthalpy of transfer of the copolymer from the water to the aqueous surfactant solutions. [EN] A methodology for the determination of tomato phenolic acids and flavonoids has been developed combining MEKC and DAD detection. The influence on polyphenol separation of pH and background electrolyte, BGE (borax, acetonitrile, methanol and SDS concentrations), was studied and optimized using response surface methodology and weighted desirability function. Separation of polyphenols was achieved within 20 min at 15 degrees C using 11.3 mM borax and 11.2 mM SDS adjusted to pH 8.5 as BGE. Validation was performed using standards and tomato extracts.
