Theodor Mommsen, Franz Cumont e la diffusione delle "religioni orientali". Considerazioni su un inedito ritrovato negli Archivi dell'Academia Belgica

Negli Archivi di Franz Cumont (1868-1947), presso l'Academia Belgica a Roma, è stato recentemente ritrovato un manoscritto, originariamente inventariato come una bozza dell'introduzione alla sua opera Les mystères de Mithra (1901). Un'analisi più accurata del documento ha mostrato, però, il carattere inedito del saggio che risulta, per di più corredato da una ventina di commenti in una grafia diversa rispetto a quella di Franz Cumont. Il confronto di questa scrittura con quella dei corrispondenti di Cumont ha indotto a ritenere che questo acuto lettore era, probabilmente, lo studioso tedesco Theodor Mommsen (1817-1903). Comments on “Unobservable Selection and Coefficient Stability

Abstract–: We establish a link between the approaches proposed by Oster (2019) and Pei, Pischke, and Schwandt (2019) which contribute to the development of inferential procedures for causal effects in the challenging and empirically relevant situation where the unknown data-generation process is not included in the set of models considered by the investigator. We use the general misspecification framework recently proposed by De Luca, Magnus, and Peracchi (2018) to analyze and understand the implications of the restrictions imposed by the two approaches.

Interspecific aggression and character displacement in the damselfly Calopteryx splendens

Problems in species recognition are thought to affect the evolution of secondary sexual characters mainly through avoidance of maladaptive hybridization. Another, but much less studied avenue for the evolution of sexual characters due to species recognition problems is through interspecific aggression. In the damselfly, Calopteryx splendens, males have pigmented wing spots as a sexual character. Large-spotted males resemble males of another species, Calopteryx virgo, causing potential problems in species recognition. Hybridization in Calopteryx damselflies: the role of males

Females are often considered responsible for hybridization between two species because usually they are the choosier sex and their cooperation is needed for successful copulation. However, males can also be responsible for hybridization, for example in species in which males are able to force copulation. We studied the pattern of hybridization in two congeneric damselfly species, Calopteryx splendens and Calopteryx virgo, and provide evidence that F1 hybrids between the two damselfly species occur in the wild. Male mating success is often determined by body size or secondary sexual characters because of female mate choice or competition for females. In addition to intraspecific interactions, interspecific interactions may interfere with intraspecific selection. In this study, we investigated sexual selection on size and sexual characters of male banded demoiselle ( Calopteryx splendens (Harris, 1780)) in wild populations sympatric with the beautiful demoiselle ( Calopteryx virgo (L., 1758)). La regione dei Caraibi abbraccia, infatti, sia alcune delle isole dell’arcipelago delle Piccole Antille (Martinica, Guadalupa), sia l’isola di Haïti, che fa parte delle Grandi Antille, che la Guiana incastonata sulla costa orientale dell’America meridionale. Pur nella diversità dei movimenti ideologici e degli avvenimenti storici che si sono succeduti nella regione, le opere letterarie degli scrittori caraibici francofoni, nel loro insieme, hanno oscillato, e continuano …

The definition "Franco-Caribbean Literature" used by convention from the critique to indicate all the literary production in French of the central region of the American continent is very improper. The Caribbean region includes in fact the islands of Martinique Guadeloupe Haïti and the Guiana. Despite the diversity of ideological movements and historical events that took place in these countries the literary works of the Caribbean writers have fluctuated and continue to oscillate between two tendencies: that of rooting in tradition and that of escape from it. The writers show themselves open to comparison and dialogue with other literary and cultural traditions in order to create a narrative form that corresponds to the many inheritances of those composite populations. Here the cultural syncretism that has been created allows to recognize a common identity in the name of all that the West wanted to extinguish. The common denominator seems to be inverted in the contradictory result of courageous but dangerous encounters of curiosities that can lead to conflicts to exclusions.

This paper offers a reflection on the expected competencies identified through the formulation of the Dublin descriptors of the CdS in Education Sciences (L-19) and Primary Education Sciences (LM-85bis) established at the University of Palermo and in the same time to propose a model for the development of professional maturity necessary to ensure informed mature and responsible choices. In this paper, we focus on the well-known episode that revolves around Pausanias himself and a Byzantine maiden and is transmitted by Aristodemus, Plutarch and Pausanias Periegetes. The multiplicity of versions demands a comparative analysis, which we carry out taking into account the three spaces where the narrative action takes place (civic, intimate and ritual spaces).
