Myoadenylate deaminase (MAD) is the rate-limiting enzyme in the purine nucleotide cycle which is biochemically linked to glycolysis and the citric cycle and thereby providing energy during intense muscular activity. In muscle fibers, myoadenylate deaminase operates at considerably higher activity levels than in other organs. First detected using enzyme-histochemical methods, it now appears that deficiency of myoadenylate deaminase is one of the most frequent enzyme defects in muscle. The primary defect may occur as an isolated nosological entity or not infrequently it is also associated with a large spectrum of different neuromuscular conditions. Celem pracy była ocena, jak napięcie mięśni dna miednicy (MDM) mierzonego za pomocą sEMG wpływa na ocenę obiektywną i subiektywną trzymania moczu oraz zaburzeń erekcji. W badaniach uczestniczyło 10 mężczyzn, będących po zabiegu prostatektomii. Nasilenie objawów nietrzymania moczu oceniano na podstawie kwestionariusza ICIQ-SF, aktywność seksualną kwestionariuszem IIEF-5. Nie wykazano istotnego statystycznie związku między napięciem MDM, ocenianego za pomocą sEMG, a obiektywnymi wyznacznikami nietrzymania moczu, jednakże zaobserwowano tendencję, że niższe napięcie MDM występuje częściej u chorych ze wszystkimi dolegliwościami w ocenie subiektywnej.
Decreasing muscle performance associated with increasing disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

Objectives Increasing evidence suggests that inflammation has a detrimental effect on muscle strength. Our objective was to analyse the association between muscle performance and different disease activity levels in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Method A total of 199 consecutive outpatients were subject to cross-sectional assessment. Measurements of grip strength, endurance of the upper and lower limbs and trunk strength were combined as a muscle performance composite score (MPCS), using a standardised method. Zewnątrzustrojowa fala uderzeniowa (ESW – Extracorporeal Shock Wave) jest czynnikiem fizykalnym, którego zastosowanie kliniczne obserwowane jest w szerokiej gamie zaburzeń chorobowych, szczególnie dysfunkcji narządu ruchu. Background: Groin pain is a frequent condition among athletes. One of the causes of groin pain is tendinopathy, a frequently diagnosed medical condition, which can also occur in the adductor muscles. Despite the high prevalence of this medical condition among athletes, it is infrequent to observe tendinopathic groin pain in steeplechase runners. Transfection of lipoma cells with papilloma bovine virus subgenomic fragment.

Abstract Lipoma cells with consistent chromosomal aberration have been transfected with plasmids carrying papilloma bovine virus subgenomic fragment (PBV 69). The succesful transformation of the cells was ascerted on the changed growth pattern of the cells in liquid medium, colony formation in soft agar and modified cell appearrance in electron microscopy; transfection with PBV 69 has not been, however, sufficient to immortalize lipoma cells.
