Assessing the Commodity Market Price and Terms of Trade Exposures of Macroeconomy in Emerging and Developing Countries

This paper provides novel evidence on commodity market exposure, i.e., the impacts of commodity price and terms of trade fluctuations on macro performance amongst 46 emerging and developing countries (EMDCs) in Africa, Asia and the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region. We estimate the exposure of six macroeconomic variables to the commodity prices and terms of trade. Our results indicate that in overall terms, there is a strong and statistically significant long-run relationship between the vector of analyzed world trade prices and macro variables in all EMDCs. Composición taxonómica y análisis tafonómico del conjunto óseo recuperado en el yacimiento pleistoceno de La Salema (Facheca, Alicante)

En el año 2007 se recuperaron 330 elementos fósiles pertenecientes, en su mayoría, a grandes mamíferos del Pleistoceno en el yacimiento paleontológico de La Salema situado en el norte de la provincia de Alicante. Estos restos han sido clasificados taxonómicamente, identificándose catorce grupos diferentes, de los cuales seis pertenecen a grandes mamíferos herbívoros del orden Perissodactyla y Artiodactyla, otros seis pertenecen a mamíferos carnívoros, además de haberse encontrado algunos restos óseos de lagomorfos y quelonios. Exhaled breath acetone has been identified as a diabetes biomarker for non-invasive diagnosis. Its detection using biosensors features has many advantages over the conventional means. This paper reviews the recent literature on the detection of exhaled breath acetone and acetone vapor of diabetic interest. The biosensors have been classified based on their transduction methods. The performance characteristics of the biosensors have been explored for comparison. The future trends are also highlighted.
Global diversity and geography of soil fungi

Fungi play integral roles in soil nutrient cycling, but the determinants of fungal diversity and biogeographic patterns of key functional groups remain poorly understood. By using pyrosequencing data from hundreds of globally distributed soil samples, we demonstrated fungal diversity that expands upon the taxonomic and molecular diversity recorded so far. Except for ectomycorrhizal symbionts, fungal functional group richness was unrelated to plant diversity and plant-to-fungus richness ratio declined exponentially towards the poles. This current innovative education project has the main goal of introducing students to experimental economics to help them better understand complex macroeconomic concepts. For this purpose, it is used an online experimental platform to develop a role-playing dynamic with which students become real economic agents. This gamified technique allows students to interact with each other in the goods and production factors markets and, thus, generate a circular flow studied as one of the main macroeconomic principles.
