Using Italian Households Budget Survey data over the period 1997-2013, a Cragg model in a life-cycle context is specified to compare the consumption behaviour in the pre- and post-crisis time and develop different micro and macro measures of resilience against crisis shocks. Cohort profiles for participation in and for consumption of tourism services in the pre- and post-crisis time are determined so as to explore the households’ resilience by generations. Another "French paradox": explaining why interest rates to microenterprises dit not increase with the change in French usury legislation

Conventional wisdom indicates that the growth of credit may not materialize if credit rates remain capped by usury laws, as had long been the case in France. France therefore abolished usury ceilings on loans to microenterprise in an effort to increase financing for microentrepreneurs. This should have led to an increase in interest rates and increase in microcredit. However, we do not find any increase in interest rates and this is therefore a paradox. Angular Trapping of Anisometric Nano-Objects in a Fluid

We demonstrate the ability to trap, levitate, and orient single anisometric nanoscale objects with high angular precision in a fluid. An electrostatic fluidic trap confines a spherical object at a spatial location defined by the minimum of the electrostatic system free energy. For an anisometric object and a potential well lacking angular symmetry, the system free energy can further strongly depend on the object's orientation in the trap. Engineering the morphology of the trap thus enables precise spatial and angular confinement of a single levitating nano-object, and the process can be massively parallelized. Syphilis is an important public health problem and an increasing incidence has been noted in recent years. Characterization of strain diversity through molecular data plays a critical role in the epidemiological understanding of this re-emergence. We here propose a new high-resolution multilocus sequence typing (MLST) scheme for Treponema pallidum subsp. pallidum (TPA). We analyzed 30 complete and draft TPA genomes obtained directly from clinical samples or from rabbit propagated strains to identify suitable typing loci and tested the new scheme on 120 clinical samples collected in Switzerland and France. Gammaherpesviruses are important pathogens whose lifelong survival in the host depends critically on their capacity to establish and reactivate from latency, processes regulated by both viral genes and the host immune response. Previous work has demonstrated that gamma interferon (IFN-gamma) is a key regulator of chronic infection with murine gammaherpesvirus 68 (gammaHV68), a virus that establishes latent infection in B lymphocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Comparison of quantitative Holocene temperature reconstructions using multiple proxies from a northern boreal lake

Four biotic proxies (plant macrofossils, pollen, chironomids and diatoms) are employed to quantitatively reconstruct variations in mean July air temperatures ( Tjul) at Lake Loitsana (northern Finland) during the Holocene. The aim is to evaluate the robustness and biases in these temperature reconstructions and to compare the timing of highest Tjul in the individual reconstructions. The reconstructed Tjul values are evaluated in relation to local-scale/site-specific processes associated with the Holocene lake development at Loitsana as these factors have been shown to significantly influence the fossil assemblages found in the Lake Loitsana sediments. The purpose of the second part of the third part of the book is to show how the theory translates into reality. That is why the most important factors studied in the first and second parts of the book are concluded in this chapter. The first part of the chapter is addressed to examine the personal characteristics and motivation of the social entrepreneur, that is, it is focused on the micro approach. The second part is addressed to analyze the institutional context, that is, it comprehends the macro approach. Based on this, the chapter shows the stages followed by social entrepreneurs to shift the context. The legitimation process is the base of this shift.

The idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IM) are a heterogeneous group of diseases and diagnosis often necessitates a muscle biopsy. Five main entities are recognized: (1) dermatomyositis (DM); (2) polymyositis (PM); (3) necrotizing autoimmune myopathy (NAM); (4) sporadic inclusion body myositis (IBM); and (5) non-specific myositis. Other entities include granulomatous myopathy, macrophagic myofasciitis, and eosinophilic fasciitis (Shulman's syndrome).
