A neutral 2D oxalate-based soluble magnet assembled by hydrogen bonding interactions

2008

Abstract Herein we describe the synthesis, structure and magnetic properties of a novel oxalate-based layered magnetic system: {[Mn(OH2)2(S)2][Mn(S)(OH2)]2[Cr(ox)3]2(18-crown-6)}∞ (S = CH3OH; ox = C 2 O 4 2 - ; 18-crown-6 = C12H24O6) (1). In this case, no cationic templating agent is required to promote the assembling of low-dimensional oxalate-bridged metallic complexes in solution. Instead, strong enough hydrogen bonding interactions are responsible for their packing in the solid state. This magnet is soluble and presents two different types of oxalate bridges: the common bis(bidentate) and the unusual bidentate–monodentate. This structural feature has drastic consequences on the magnetis…

New dinuclear copper complexes incorporating bis(imidazolyl) based ligands and bidentate–monodentate oxalate bridges. Crystal structure and magnetic …

2016

Abstract This paper reports the synthesis, X-ray crystal structure and magnetic characterization of two novel copper(II) dinuclear compounds including bis(imidazolyl) ligands and oxalate anions, [Cu2(BIM)2(C2O4)2]·4H2O (1) (BIM = bis(2-imidazolyl)methane) and [Cu2(BIK)2(C2O4)2] (2) (BIK = bis(2-imidazolyl)ketone). The oxalate anion acts as bidentate–monodentate in both cases, although it exhibits different coordination bridging modes: whereas in compound 1 a μ1,1,2-oxalato is observed, a μ1,2,3-oxalato is found in compound 2. In both cases, the 3D framework is held together by a combination of H-bonding and aromatic-aromatic interactions provided by the convenient structural features of BIM…

Malonate-based copper(II) coordination compounds: Ferromagnetic coupling controlled by dicarboxylates

2003

Studies on structural and magnetic properties of polynuclear transition metal complexes, aimed at understanding the structural and chemical factors governing electronic exchange coupling mediated by multiatom bridging ligands, are of continuing interest to design new molecular materials exhibiting unusual magnetic, optical and electrical properties, bound to their molecular nature. Looking at potentially flexible bridging ligands, the malonate group seems a suitable candidate. The occurrence of two carboxylate groups in the 1,3 positions allows this ligand to adopt simultaneously chelating bidentate and different carboxylato bridging modes (syn–syn, anti–anti and syn–anti trough one or two …

1‑Phenyl-3-(pyrid-2-yl)benzo[e][1,2,4]triazinyl: The First "Blatter Radical" for Coordination Chemistry

2014

A neutral air- and moisture-stable N,N′-chelating radical ligand, 1-phenyl-3-(pyrid-2-yl)benzo[e][1,2,4]triazinyl (1) was synthesized and characterized by electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, and magnetic measurements. Subsequent reaction of 1 with Cu(hfac)2·2H2O (hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate) under ambient conditions afforded the coordination complex Cu(1)(hfac)2 in which the radical binds to the metal in a bidentate fashion. Magnetic susceptibility data collected from 1.8 to 300 K indicate a strong ferromagnetic metal-radical interaction in the complex and weak antiferromagnetic radical···radical interactions between the Cu(1)(hfac)2 units. Detailed com…

In vitro evaluation of leishmanicidal properties of a new family of monodimensional coordination polymers based on diclofenac ligand

2020

Some series of isostructural chains with general formula [M(diclof)(HO)]·(EtOH) have been obtained from reaction between diclofenac ligand (diclof) and first row transition salts (M = Mn (1),Ni (2) and Co (3)). These monodimensional coordination polymers have been characterized and their crystal structures have been solved by X-ray diffraction methods, elucidating isostructural compounds that are chains with water molecules acting as bridge between different metallic centers, while diclofenac ligands are coordinated to the octahedral coordination environment of the same. Magnetic studies of these complexes have revealed the existence of moderate ferromagnetic interactions among manganese, n…

Structural and magnetic studies of tetranuclear heterometallic M/Cr (M = Co, Mn) complexes self-assembled from zerovalent cobalt or manganese, Reinec…

2010

Abstract Four novel heterometallic complexes [Co2Cr2(NCS)4(HDea)2(Dea)2]·4dmf (1), [Co2Cr2(NCS)4(HDea)2(Dea)2]·4dmso (2), [Mn2Cr2(NCS)4(HDea)2(Dea)2(dmf)2]·2dmf (3) and [Mn2Cr2(NCS)4(HDea)2(Dea)2(dmso)2]·4dmso (4) have been prepared using zerovalent cobalt (1, 2) or manganese (3, 4), Reineckes salt, ammonium thiocyanate and a non-aqueous solution of diethanolamine (H2Dea) in air. The single X-ray analysis reveals that all compounds have similar centrosymmetric crystal structures based on a tetranuclear {M2Cr2(μ3-O)2(μ-O)4} (M = Co, Mn) core. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements of 1, 2 and 4 show antiferromagnetic coupling between the magnetic centers, while 3 exhibits …

Neutron-scattering studies on CeM2Ge2(M=Ag, Au, and Ru)

1992

The results of elastic, quasielastic, and inelastic neutron-scattering studies on polycrystalline CeM 2 Ge 2 (M=Ag, Au, and Ru) are presented. All compounds reveal long-range magnetic order at low temperatures. Ferromagnetic (M=Ru), antiferromagnetic (M=Au), and incommensurate (M=Ag) structures were detected. Using time-of-flight (TOF) techniques, the crystalline electric-field splittings were determined. With high-resolution TOF experiments the temperature and wave-vector dependence of the magnetic relaxation rate was studied

Multifunctional polymer-derivatized γ-Fe2O3 nanocrystals as a methodology for the biomagnetic separation of recombinant His-tagged proteins

2008

Abstract Multifunctional polymer-derivatized superparamagnetic iron oxide (γ-Fe2O3) nanoparticles were prepared for biomagnetic separation of histidine-tagged recombinant proteins building up a faster and efficient method for protein separation by making use of their intrinsic magnetic properties. Using polymer bound γ-Fe2O3 nanocrystals, a 6× histidine-tagged recombinant protein (silicatein) with a molecular weight of 24 kDa has been isolated and purified. The supermagnetic iron oxide nanocrystals were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM (HRTEM), SQUID and Mossbauer and the polymer functionalization of the γ-Fe2O3 nanocrystals was monitored by UV–vi…

High Yield Syntheses of Stable, Singly Bonded Pd26+ Compounds

2006

A general method for the syntheses of dipalladium compounds having a singly bonded Pd26+ core and the formula R,S-cis-Pd2(C6H4PPh2)2(O2CR)2Cl2 is described. When the alkyl group in the carboxylate ligands is an electron donating group, the compounds are stable and the yields high. The Pd-Pd distances for the diamagnetic compounds with R = CF3 and CMe3 are 2.5434(4) and 2.5241(9) A, respectively. Calculations at the DFT level suggest that the electronic configuration is sigma2pi4delta2delta*2pi*4. These represent rare examples of palladium(III) compounds.
