Project-Based Learning: A Case for Situated Translation

The author proposes replacing the folk theoretical ‘conduit’ view of learning that still predominates in Translator Education with a principled understanding of cognitive and learning processes for the design of learning events in Translator Education. A collaborative, project-based educational experience is presented by way of illustration. In conclusion, an argument is made for studying collaborative learning events to gain insight into the multi-facetted nature of the learning process as well as of the translation process itself.

Summary: Chromatin organization plays a crucial role in tissue homeostasis. Heterochromatin relaxation and consequent unscheduled mobilization of transposable elements (TEs) are emerging as key contributors of aging and aging-related pathologies, including Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and cancer. However, the mechanisms governing heterochromatin maintenance or its relaxation in pathological conditions remain poorly understood. Here we show that PIN1, the only phosphorylation-specific cis/trans prolyl isomerase, whose loss is associated with premature aging and AD, is essential to preserve heterochromatin. Pētījuma mērķis ir noskaidrot saistību starp trauksmi, stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģijam un fiziskām aktivitātēm. Pētījumā piedalījās 113 respondenti vecumā no 18 līdz 76 gadiem. Trauksmes līmeņa mērīšanai tika izmantota Spīlbergera „Trauksmes stāvokļa-iezīmes aptauja” (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), Spilberger, 1983). Latvijā to adaptējusi Daina Škuškovnika, 2004. Stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģiju noteikšanai tika izmantota „Stresa pārvarēšanas stratēģiju aptauja” (The Coping Orientation of Problem Experience (COPE Inventory), Carver, Scheier & Weintraub, 1989). Current evidence points to an increase over time in both actual and perceived weight status among adolescents, however there is limited evidence on time trends in BWP in cross-national samples of adolescents. Therefore, the aims of this study were to examine time trends in BWP between 2002 and 2018 among adolescents from 41 countries and regions, including gender and country differences and to explore the role of changes over time in country-level overweight/obesity prevalence in these trends. Makrofītu temporālās mainības ietekme upju ekoloģiskā stāvokļa noteikšanā: Bērzes upes piemērs

Zarečanska I. 2021. Makrofītu temporālās mainības ietekme upju ekoloģiskā stāvokļa noteikšanā: Bērzes upes piemērs. Bakalaura darbs. Rīga, Latvijas Universitāte, 41 lpp. Bakalaura darba mērķis ir noteikt makrofītu temporālās mainības ietekmi uz Bērzes upes ekoloģisko kvalitāti. Bērzes upes apsekošana tika veikta 2020. gada vasarā, laika posmā no 17. jūnija līdz 16. augustam. Lai noteiktu upes ekoloģisko stāvokli un makrofītu sugu daudzveidību, tika aprēķināts Latvijas upju makrofītu indekss, Šenona indekss un Simpsona indekss. Pētījuma rezultāti apstiprina, ka makrofītu temporālā mainība sezonas laikā ietekmē Bērzes upes ekoloģisko stāvokli.

Truth pluralism offers the latest extension in the tradition of substantive theorizing about truth. While various forms of this thesis are available, most frameworks commit to domain reliance. According to domain reliance, various ways of being true, such as coherence and correspondence, are tied to discourse domains rather than individual sentences.
