Effect of air pressure on the electro-Fenton process at carbon felt electrodes
2018
Abstract The effect of air pressure on electro-Fenton (PrEF process) was evaluated using two organic substances (maleic acid and Acid Orange 7) as model organic pollutants. First experiments were performed using a conventional carbon felt (CF) cathode. At room pressure, a slow removal of maleic acid was obtained, together with the generation of formic acid. Conversely, using pressurized air, the removal of maleic acid was dramatically accelerated and the formation of formic acid was not detected. The utilization of a carbon felt modified by the deposition of carbon black + PTFE mixture (MCF) and of pressurized air allowed to achieve even faster and almost total (>95%) removal of total organ…
Polarization transfer via field sweeping in parahydrogen-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance.
2019
<div><br></div><div><table><tr><td>We show that in a spin system of two magnetically inequivalent protons coupled to a heteronucleus such as 13C, an adiabatic magnetic field sweep, passing through zero field, transfers proton singlet order into magnetization of the coupled heteronucleus. This effect is potentially useful in parahydrogen-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance, and is demonstrated on singlet-hyperpolarized [1-13C]maleic acid, which is prepared via the reaction between [1-13C]acetylene dicarboxylic acid and para-enriched hydrogen gas. The magnetic field sweeps are of microtesla amplitudes, and have durations on the order of seconds. We sh…
Reactions of Maleisomides with Alcohols
2004
Abstract New surfactants (surfmers) with various amide and ester groups next to C˭C double bonds have been obtained. Maleic acid amidesters (AE) with different hydrophobic groups at the nitrogen atom and hydrophilic substituents at oxygen atoms were synthesized starting with maleic isoimides. 1H KMR and IR spectra were used for their characterization. Some were further characterized for their critical micellar concentration (CMC). A few cationic and zwitterionic surfmers were also prepared from isoimide precursors and characterized. All these surfmers were applied in batch emulsion polymerization of styrene, and in core‐shell seeded copolymerization of styrene and butylacrylate to give late…
Propanephosphonic Acid Anhydride–Mediated Cyclodehydration of Maleic Acid Monoamides
2013
Abstract Propanephosphonic acid anhydride (T3P) has been proposed as a novel reagent for the preparation of maleic acid isoimides from the corresponding monoamides. A series of substituted aromatic and aliphatic isoimides have been prepared in good yields. The main advantage of this synthetic method is the use of environmentally benign, cost-efficient reagents and solvents, which are also safer to handle than the ones employed previously. Hemiesters and hemiamides of maleic and succinic acid: synthesis and application of surfactants in emulsion polymerization with styrene and butyl acr…
1999
Hemiesters and hemiamides of maleic acid with different chain lengths of the hydrophobic alkyl group (R = C8H17, C10H21, C12H25, C16H33) have been synthesized and used as surfactants in the emulsion polymerization of styrene and butyl acrylate. The same polymerization experiments were also carried out using nonreactive surfactants with an analogous succinic structure. The chemical structure of the surfactants was confirmed by 1H nuclear magnetic resonance. The melting point and critical micelle concentration of the reactive surfactants described herein were measured. All of the surfactants studied provided good stability of styrene/butyl acrylate latexes, when compared with a reference late…

Badanie aktywności katalizatorów Ni-Al2O3 w procesie uwodornienia kwasu maleinowego
2016
Zbadano wpływ zawartości aluminium na aktywność katalizatorów Ni-Al2O3 w procesie uwodornienia kwasu maleinowego. Aktywność katalityczną mierzono metodą potencjometryczną. Najwyższą aktywność katalityczną wykazywał katalizator zawierający 1% mol. Al. Stwierdzono obniżenie aktywności badanych katalizatorów ze wzrostem temperatury procesu uwodornienia.
