Common fixed points of generalized contractions on partial metric spaces and an application

2011

Abstract In this paper, common fixed point theorems for four mappings satisfying a generalized nonlinear contraction type condition on partial metric spaces are proved. Presented theorems extend the very recent results of I. Altun, F. Sola and H. Simsek [Generalized contractions on partial metric spaces, Topology and its applications 157 (18) (2010) 2778–2785]. As application, some homotopy results for operators on a set endowed with a partial metric are given.

A Newman property for BLD-mappings

2019

We define a Newman property for BLD-mappings and prove that for a BLD-mapping between generalized manifolds equipped with complete path-metrics, this property is equivalent to the branch set being porous when the codomain is LLC. peerReviewed

Multi-valued $$F$$ F -contractions in 0-complete partial metric spaces with application to Volterra type integral equation

2013

We study the existence of fixed points for multi-valued mappings that satisfy certain generalized contractive conditions in the setting of 0-complete partial metric spaces. We apply our results to the solution of a Volterra type integral equation in ordered 0-complete partial metric spaces.

Fixed point theorems for non-self mappings in symmetric spaces under φ-weak contractive conditions and an application to functional equations in dyna…

2014

In this paper, we prove some common fixed point theorems for two pairs of non-self weakly compatible mappings enjoying common limit range property, besides satisfying a generalized phi-weak contractive condition in symmetric spaces. We furnish some illustrative examples to highlight the realized improvements in our results over the corresponding relevant results of the existing literature. We extend our main result to four finite families of mappings in symmetric spaces using the notion of pairwise commuting mappings. Finally, we utilize our results to discuss the existence and uniqueness of solutions of certain system of functional equations arising in dynamic programming.

Lipschitz operator ideals and the approximation property

2016

[EN] We establish the basics of the theory of Lipschitz operator ideals with the aim of recovering several classes of Lipschitz maps related to absolute summability that have been introduced in the literature in the last years. As an application we extend the notion and main results on the approximation property for Banach spaces to the case of metric spaces. (C) 2015 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

Remarks on G-Metric Spaces

2013

In 2005, Mustafa and Sims (2006) introduced and studied a new class of generalized metric spaces, which are called G-metric spaces, as a generalization of metric spaces. We establish some useful propositions to show that many fixed point theorems on (nonsymmetric) G-metric spaces given recently by many authors follow directly from well-known theorems on metric spaces. Our technique can be easily extended to other results as shown in application.

Projective Geometry on Modular Lattices

1995

Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on projective geometry on modular lattices. Incidence and Order are basic concepts for a foundation of modern synthetic geometry. These concepts describe the relative location or containment of geometric objects and have led to different lines of geometry, an incidence-geometric and a lattice-theoretic one. Modularity is one of the fundamental properties of classical projective geometry. It makes projections into join-preserving mappings and yields perspectivities to be (interval) isomorphisms. It is therefore natural that order-theoretic generalizations of projective geometry are based on modular lattices and even more, the theory of modular lattices …

Best proximity points: Convergence and existence theorems for p-cyclic mappings

2010

Abstract We introduce a new class of mappings, called p -cyclic φ -contractions, which contains the p -cyclic contraction mappings as a subclass. Then, convergence and existence results of best proximity points for p -cyclic φ -contraction mappings are obtained. Moreover, we prove results of the existence of best proximity points in a reflexive Banach space. These results are generalizations of the results of Al-Thagafi and Shahzad (2009) [8] .

A result of Suzuki type in partial G-metric spaces

2014

Abstract Recently, Suzuki [T. Suzuki, A generalized Banach contraction principle that characterizes metric completeness, Proc. Amer. Math. Soc. 136 (2008), 1861-1869] proved a fixed point theorem that is a generalization of the Banach contraction principle and characterizes the metric completeness. Paesano and Vetro [D. Paesano and P. Vetro, Suzuki's type characterizations of completeness for partial metric spaces and fixed points for partially ordered metric spaces, Topology Appl., 159 (2012), 911-920] proved an analogous fixed point result for a self-mapping on a partial metric space that characterizes the partial metric 0-completeness. In this article, we introduce the notion of partial …
