Static output-feedback control for vehicle suspensions: a single-step linear matrix inequality approach

2013

In this paper, a new strategy to design static output-feedback controllers for a class of vehicle suspension systems is presented. A theoretical background on recent advances in output-feedback control is first provided, which makes possible an effective synthesis of static output-feedback controllers by solving a single linear matrix inequality optimization problem. Next, a simplified model of a quarter-car suspension system is proposed, taking the ride comfort, suspension stroke, road holding ability, and control effort as the main performance criteria in the vehicle suspension design. The new approach is then used to design a static output-feedbackH∞controller that only uses the suspensi…

An Output Feedback Control Design for $$ {\rm H}_\infty $$ Synchronization of Master-Slave Markovian Jump Systems with Time-Varying Delays

2012

In this chapter, an output feedback control proach is proposed for exponential synchronization problem of master slave systems with both discrete and distributed time-varying delays and Markovian switching parameters. Using an appropriate Lyapunov Krasovskii functional, some delay-dependent sufficient conditions and a synchronization law which include the master slave parameters are established for designing a mode-dependent output feedback control law in terms of linear matrix inequalities. The controller guarantees the \( {\rm{H}}_\infty \) synchronization of the two coupled master and slave systems regardless of their initial states. A numerical example is given to show the effectiveness…

This paper is concerned with the problem of general output feedback stabilization for fractional order linear time-invariant (FO-LTI) systems with the fractional commensurate order0<α<2. The objective is to design suitable output feedback controllers that guarantee the stability of the resulting closed-loop systems. Based on the slack variable method and our previous stability criteria, some new results in the form of linear matrix inequality (LMI) are developed to the static and dynamic output feedback controllers synthesis for the FO-LTI system with0<α<1. Furthermore, the results are extended to stabilize the FO-LTI systems with1≤α<2. Finally, robust output feedback control…

Dynamic Output Feedback Passive Control of Uncertain Switched Stochastic Systems with Time-Varying Delay

2013

Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from Hindawi: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/281747 Open Access This paper is concerned with the issues of passivity analysis and dynamic output feedback (DOF) passive control for uncertain switched stochastic systems with time-varying delay via multiple storage functions (MSFs) method. Firstly, based on the MSFs method, a sufficient condition for the existence of the passivity of the underlying system is established in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, the problem of dynamic output feedback passive control is investigated. Based on the obtained passivity condition, a …

Pmarg-pearlin is a matrix protein involved in nacre framework formation in the pearl oyster Pinctada margaritifera.

2011

11 pages; International audience; The shell of pearl oysters is organized in multiple layers of CaCO(3) crystallites packed together in an organic matrix. Relationships between the components of the organic matrix and mechanisms of nacre formation currently constitute the main focus of research into biomineralization. In this study, we characterized the pearlin protein from the oyster Pinctada margaritifera (Pmarg); this shares structural features with other members of a matrix protein family, N14/N16/pearlin. Pmarg pearlin exhibits calcium- and chitin-binding properties. Pmarg pearlin transcripts are distinctively localized in the mineralizing tissue responsible for nacre formation. More s…

Preparation methods to optimize the performance of sensor discs for fast chemiluminescence ozone analyzers.

2013

Fast ozone (O(3)) measurements (1-50 Hz) in the atmosphere are required for airborne studies and for the measurement of ground-based O(3) fluxes by the eddy covariance technique. Fast response analyzers, based on heterogeneous chemiluminescence, need dye coated sensor discs on which the chemiluminescence is generated. In this study, we present three new preparation methods for those sensor discs. Currently available sensor discs exhibit a fast temporal decay of sensitivity, resulting in short duty times which is troublesome for many field applications. To produce sensor discs that provide more stable signals over time, three dyes and nine energy transfer reagents were tested (as well as dif…

Multispectral fluorescence sensitivity to acidic and polyphenolic changes in Chardonnay wines – The case study of malolactic fermentation

2022

International audience; In this study, stationary and time-resolvedfluorescence signatures, were statistically and chemometrically analyzed among three typologies of Chardonnay wines (A, B and C) with the objectives to evaluate their sensitivity to acidic and polyphenolic changes. For that purpose, a dataset was built using Excitation Emission Matrices of fluorescence (N = 103) decomposed by a Parallel Factor Analysis (PARAFAC), andfluorescence decays (N = 22), mathematically fitted, using the conventional exponential modeling and the phasor plot representation. Wine PARAFAC component C4 coupledwith its phasor plot g and s values enable the description of malolactic fermentation (MLF) occur…

DIMENSIONAL STABILITY OF REINFORCED MATRICES.

1983

Particulate fillers are often used to improve the dimensional stability of polymeric items obtained through processing techniques such as injection molding, deep drawing, hot stamping, etc. In these operations the material undergoes large multiaxial deformations which result in molecular orientation and remain as frozen-in stresses during cooling of the material. Once the formed objects are exposed to sufficiently high temperatures, various degrees of spring-back take place and subsequent changes in shape and dimension occur (1).

Non-Unitarity of the lepton mixing matrix at the European spallation source

2022

If neutrinos get mass through the exchange of lepton mediators, as in seesaw schemes, the neutrino appearance probabilities in oscillation experiments are modified due to effective nonunitarity of the lepton mixing matrix. This also leads to new CP phases and an ambiguity in underpinning the ''conventional'' phase of the three-neutrino paradigm. We study the CP sensitivities of various setups based at the European spallation source neutrino super-beam (ESSnuSB) experiment in the presence of nonunitarity. We also examine its potential in constraining the associated new physics parameters. Moreover, we show how the combination of DUNE and ESSnuSB can help further improve the sensitivities on …

Fick Diffusion Coefficients in Ternary Liquid Systems from Equilibrium Molecular Dynamics Simulations

2012

An approach for computing Fick diffusivities directly from equilibrium molecular dynamics (MD) simulations is presented and demonstrated for a ternary chloroform–acetone–methanol liquid mixture. In our approach, Fick diffusivities are calculated from the Maxwell–Stefan (MS) diffusivities and the so-called matrix of thermodynamic factors. MS diffusivities describe the friction between different molecular species and can be directly computed from MD simulations. The thermodynamic factor describes the deviation from ideal mixing behavior and is difficult to extract from both experiments and simulations. Here, we show that the thermodynamic factor in ternary systems can be obtained from density…
