Digital mammography has been progressively introduced in screening centers, since recent evolution of CR and DR detectors. However, it is questionable which exposure conditions would be more suitable when these techniques are applied, in order to reduce the glandular breast doses, as they are related with induced carcinogenesis. A nanodosimetric model of radiation-induced clustered DNA damage yields

International audience; We present a nanodosimetric model for predicting the yield of double strand breaks (DSBs) and non-DSB clustered damages induced in irradiated DNA. The model uses experimental ionization cluster size distributions measured in a gas model by an ion counting nanodosimeter or, alternatively, distributions simulated by a Monte Carlo track structure code developed to simulate the nanodosimeter. A theoretical approach of the propagation through geometrical constraints in cardiac tissue

International audience; The behaviour of impulse propagation in the presence of non-excitable scars and boundaries is a complex phenomenon and induces pathological consequences in cardiac tissue. In this article, a geometrical con¯guration is considered so that cardiac waves propagate through a thin strand, which is connected to a large mass of cells. At this interface, waves can slow down or even be blocked depending on the width of the strand. We present an analytical approach leading to determine the blockade condition, by introducing planar travelling wavefront and circular stationary wave. Eventually, the in°uence of the tissue geometry is examined on the impulse propagation velocity.

Investigation of superspreading COVID-19 outbreak events in meat and poultry processing plants in Germany: A cross-sectional study.

Since May 2020, several COVID-19 outbreaks have occurred in the German meat industry despite various protective measures, and temperature and ventilation conditions were considered as possible high-risk factors. This cross-sectional study examined meat and poultry plants to examine possible risk factors. Companies completed a self-administered questionnaire on the work environment and protective measures taken to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection. Abstract Strong fields of thermal and epithermal neutrons as used for Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) show a relatively small gamma dose. However, for accurate dose estimation, both the neutron as well as the gamma component has to be considered. Different approaches have been studied with various thermoluminescence detectors (TLDs). As a result, CaF2:Tm detectors (TLD-300) are attributed to be most insensitive to thermal neutrons but not tissue-equivalent. Impact of prompt gamma emission of 44Sc on quantification in preclinical and clinical PET systems

Abstract 44Sc is an increasingly investigated positron emitter for use in positron emission tomography (PET) imaging. However, 44Sc is a non-pure positron emitter, since prompt photons are co-emitted during the decay process. This study investigates coincidence energy spectra of 44Sc and its impact on PET quantification on a preclinical and clinical PET system in comparison with 18F. The raw data of the coincidence events revealed characteristic differences comparing the photon energy distribution of 44Sc and 18F.
