Early auditory evoked potentials: developmental aspects and validity in neuropaediatric and audiologic disorders.
1984
Auditory evoked potentials and in this context especially five waves in the first 10 ms (early auditory evoked potentials = EAEP) are a diagnostic aid in topodiagnosis of posterior fossa diseases. This is due to waves I to V which arise along the acoustic nerve and in brain stem structures such as medulla, pons and mid-brain. Besides an indication about the site of a lesion in the posterior fossa, wave V allows an objective threshold determination. The present results were gained in normal children aged 1-3 years and in children with neuropaediatric and audiologic disorders.
Experimentelle Bestimmung der Gleitreibungskräfte beim Einschlagen von Oberschenkelmarknägeln
1990
No data have published concerning the procedure of driving in intramedullary nails. An extensive experimental device consisting of a contact-free distance measurement, a dynamograph connected to strain gages and an accelerometer now enabled this investigation. Among other things we determined the range of sliding friction for each stroke at different levels of nail-progression. Depending of the depth of nail-progression forces between 200 N und 400 N were measured. When the nail is stuck these values rise to over 1000 N. The sliding-process lasted between 10 ms and 20 ms. Knowledge of these data is of major importance for improvement of surgical technique and possible development of mechani…
Endogenous opioid peptide responses to opioid and anti-inflammatory medications following eccentric exercise-induced muscle damage.
2009
To determine the effects of Vicoprofen, Ibuprofen, and a placebo on the responses of endogenous opioid peptides following eccentric exercise-induced muscle damage 36 healthy men (age: 22.8 years; height: 178.8+/-6.2cm; body mass: 78.9+/-13.7kg; body fat: 15.8+/-6.5%) volunteered to participate in the study. Each participant was evaluated for pain 24h post and randomly assigned to an experimental group: VIC (Vicoprofen), IBU (Ibuprofen), or P (placebo). Medication was given four times daily (i.e., VIC (hydrocodone bitartrate 7.5mg with Ibuprofen 200mg) and IBU 200mg). Blood was obtained at rest and at 0, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120h following the eccentric exercise damage protocol. No significant…
“Weekly docetaxel and gemcitabine as first line treatment for metastatic breast cancer: results of a multicenter phase II study”
2004
<i>Objectives:</i> We conducted a multicenter phase II study to evaluate the clinical efficacy, toxicity, and dose intensity of a new weekly schedule of docetaxel and gemcitabine as first-line treatment of metastatic breast cancer patients. <i>Methods:</i> We enrolled 58 patients, 52% of whom had received a previous anthracycline-containing chemotherapy. The treatment schedule was: docetaxel 35 mg/m2 and gemcitabine 800 mg/m2 i.v. on days 1, 8, 15 every 28 days. <i>Results:</i> All patients were assessable for toxicity and 56 for efficacy. Overall response rate was 64.3% with 16.1% of complete responses and 48…
