Recognition memory for details of musical phrases (discrimination between targets and similar lures) improves for up to 15 s following the presentation of a target, during continuous listening to the ongoing piece. This is attributable to binding of stimulus features during that time interval. This article examines memorialization among the family and friends of those who have died at the world’s deadliest border in the Mediterranean Sea. Digital media platforms are central spaces for new, innovative forms of coping with ambiguous loss or the inability to mourn over a dead body. The analysis focuses on the role of digital media technologies and the relationship between digital and material elements in memorialization. I examine the creation and circulation of digital objects of memorialization: visual assemblages in which the material and digital intertwine. The passive state: A protective mechanism for information in working memory tasks.

Memory representations can be stored in a passive state in a visual working memory (VWM) task. However, it remains unclear whether the representations stored in the passive state are prone to interference and decay. To explore this issue, we asked participants to successively remember two sets of memory items (M1 and M2) in three test manners: a combined test (both M1 and M2 are probed simultaneously), a backward test (probe M2 first and M1 second), or a forward test (probe M1 first and M2 second). A block access unit for 2D memory access

Many of the coding tools in the H.264/AVC video coding standard are based on 2D processing resulting in rowwise and column-wise memory accesses starting from arbitrary memory addresses. This paper discusses a low-cost hardware realization of these accesses on sub-word parallel processors. The proposed block access unit is placed between the processor and memory. It supports unaligned 2D block accesses according to several 2D access patterns. The 2D block accesses are pipelinable and they result in minimum number of memory accesses required to deliver the desired data.

In this paper we analyze the energy overhead incurred when operating with data stored in different levels of the memory subsystem (cache levels and DDR chips) of current multicore architectures. Extending Quantum Links: Modules for Fiber‐ and Memory‐Based Quantum Repeaters

We analyze elementary building blocks for quantum repeaters based on fiber channels and memory stations. Implementations are considered for three different physical platforms, for which suitable components are available: quantum dots, trapped atoms and ions, and color centers in diamond. We evaluate and compare the performances of basic quantum repeater links for these platforms both for present-day, state-of-the-art experimental parameters as well as for parameters that could in principle be reached in the future. The re-emergence of memory recovery: return of seduction theory and birth of survivorship

This paper comprises an analysis of an aspect of the history of psychiatric/psychological knowledge. The case in point is the transience of the notion of memory recovery in the context of childhood sexual abuse. By transience is meant that the concept of memory recovery apparently vanished and re-emerged despite the fact that its source, childhood sexual abuse, did not disappear.
