Academia in cardiovascular radiology: are we doing enough for the future of the subspecialty?

Aim To explore barriers to academic activities that cardiovascular radiology-oriented radiology trainees face worldwide. Materials and methods An international call for participation in an online survey was distributed via social media and radiological societies to radiology trainees. Questions covered barriers and involvement in academic activities during radiology training. Participants interested in cardiovascular radiology were selected for analysis with appropriate statistical methods. Finnish model of peer-group mentoring: review of research.

This article reviews research on the Finnish model of peer‐group mentoring (PGM). The theoretical foundation of the model is based on the constructivist theory of learning, the concept of autonomy in teaching profession, peer learning, and narrative identity work. The model has been disseminated nationwide in the educational sector to promote professional development of teachers and educational staff, mainly in primary and secondary education, but also in early childhood education and higher education. Elites, communities and the limited benefits of mentorship in electronic music

AbstractWhile the emergence of success in creative professions, such as music, has been studied extensively, the link between individual success and collaboration is not yet fully uncovered. Here we aim to fill this gap by analyzing longitudinal data on the co-releasing and mentoring patterns of popular electronic music artists appearing in the annual Top 100 ranking of DJ Magazine. We find that while this ranking list of popularity publishes 100 names, only the top 20 is stable over time, showcasing a lock-in effect on the electronic music elite. Based on the temporal co-release network of top musicians, we extract a diverse community structure characterizing the electronic music industry.…

In this chapter, the directors included in the book themselves take the floor. They reveal the major influences they have experienced as artists and, if they had to draw an artistic family tree, whom they would include on it. One of them, Krystian Lupa, has literally drawn his artistic family tree. The directors also outline the trends that have had the most formative impact on their aesthetics and work. It is, however, recommended that the volunteers are trained and supported. Background A survey was done on practicing Orthodontists in the United States on their experience with lingual orthodontics. The objectives of this survey study were to assess 1) the satisfaction level with cases treated with lingual orthodontics, 2) factors that influence clinicians' decision to utilize or not utilize lingual braces in their current practices, and 3) intention of using lingual braces in their future practices, if not used currently, in the U.S. Material and methods A survey questionnaire was electronically distributed to 2,200 active U.S. members of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO).
