Regulation by oestrogens of tachykinin NK3 receptor expression in the rat uterus.

The expression of the tachykinin NK3 receptor and its regulation by ovarian steroids were analyzed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) in uteri from ovariectomized rats. A single transcript corresponding to the 325-bp product expected for the tachykinin NK3 receptor was detected in uteri from olive oil-treated (control) ovariectomized rats. The level of tachykinin NK3 receptor mRNA in progesterone-treated animals was similar to that observed in uteri from control ones. Tachykinin NK3 receptor mRNA levels were significantly smaller in uteri from oestrogen-treated ovariectomized rats, with approximately a 32-fold decrease. Study of different surfaces for neonates in hospital

Evidence of risk of pressure ulcers in neonates pro is related to the type of bearing surface on which the neonate lays. To prevent pressure ulcers is necessary to know which of the available commercial surfaces is the most convenient. The goal of this work is to evaluate the interface and redistribution pressure of five constant low pressure devices (special surfaces for pressure management [SEMP] both static and mixed) for neonates. Next step will be the study of the properties of the new support surface with healthy subjects under clinical conditions.

Snapshot Spectral Imaging

This chapter describes an application of the spline-based wavelet frames to the spectral imaging. It presents a method that enables to convert a regular digital camera into a snapshot spectral imager by equipping the camera with a dispersive diffuser and with a compressed sensing-based algorithm for digital processing. The method relies on the assumption that typical images can be sparsely represented in the frame domain. The solution is found from the constrained \(l_{1}\) minimization of a functional by Bregman iterations. Results of optical experiments are reported. The chapter is based on the paper (Golub et al., Appl. Opt. 55, 432–443, (2016), [11]).

Humeral shaft fractures account for approximately 7 % of all fractures in adults. They occur after direct trauma such as traffic accidents or after indirect, rotational trauma in sports accidents or falls at home. There are two peaks of incidence in the adult population: the young male and the older female. The first patient typically is the victim of high-energy trauma with multiple lesions, a more severe humeral fracture type and concomitant soft tissue damage. The latter patient suffers a solitary lesion and is the victim of a low-energy accident such as a fall from a standing or sitting position. Since a relationship between atrial natriuretic peptide and oxytocin was recently demonstrated in the heart (Gutkowska et al., 1997), the aim of this study was to determine whether a relationship between the two peptides is present also in the rat hypothalamus. For this purpose, we measured ANP-ontogeny in the rat hypothalamus immunohistochemically and compared it with oxytocin-ontogeny which we previously studied.
