Design of new sensitive α,β-unsaturated carbonyl 1,8-naphtalimide fluorescent probes for thiol bioimaging

International audience; We report herein an efficient synthesis of news naphtalimide-based fluorescent derivatives functionalized with an a,(3-unsaturated carbonyl group. Probes were synthesized from reaction of an amino-naphtalimide precursor with maleic anhydride. Photophysical study of fluorescent probes and cells labelling were performed, and showed that the reactive derivatives exhibit rich turn on fluorescence properties in presence of different biological thiol (Glutathione and Cysteine) making these systems a very promising way for thiol bioimaging.

Abstract In this research, plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings were prepared on AZ31 Mg alloy in a silicate-based solution containing K2TiF6 using bipolar and soft sparking waveforms with 10, 20, and 30% cathodic duty cycles. The coatings displayed a net-like surface morphology consisted of irregular micro-pores, micro-cracks, fused oxide particles, and a sintered structure. Due to the incorporation of TiO2 colloidal particles and the cathodic pulse repair effect, most of the micro-pores were sealed. Electronic structure of p-type ultraviolet-transparent conducting CuScO2 films

Abstract We investigate the electronic structure of CuScO 2 thin films grown on sapphire and mica substrates by pulsed laser deposition. X-ray diffraction and microanalysis confirm that the films have the expected delafossite crystal structure and stoichiometric proportions. The electronic structure is investigated by means of X-ray and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy. Electronic states in the range 0–1350 eV are identified, making reference to theoretical density-of-states calculations up to 80 eV. Photoelectron spectra near the Fermi energy confirm the p-character of the films. Optical absorption spectroscopy shows that the films are transparent up to 3.7 eV and exhibit an intense …

Abstract A series of C 2 -symmetrical bis[( E )-2-(4-pyridyl)ethenyl]arenes has been synthesised via two-fold PO-activated olefinations. 1,4-Benzene, 1,4-naphthalene, 9,10-anthracene and 2,2′-diphenyl were used as central units. These fluorescent compounds were freely soluble in common solvents. The absorption and the emission were sensitive towards solvent polarity and acid, in solution as well as in the solid state. Depending on the concentration of acid, protonation of the ground state and/or the excited state caused reductions of the fluorescence efficiencies, accompanied by bathochromic shifts of the absorption and the emission spectra of some chromophores. Miscibility of cyanine dyes in two-dimensional aggregates

Mixed aggregates of cyanine dyes at a charged lipid monolayer surface are studied by absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy and electron diffraction. We show that slight variations of the molecular structure can convert a system from being fully miscible to being immiscible, and also that the concentrations of dyes in the solution and in the crystal may deviate considerably. The different concentration in the solution and crystal was observed for a molecule where force field calculations indicated the existence of two isomers in solution and where probably only one fits into the lattice.

Ferricenium tetrachloroferrate(III)(1), one of the more frequently cited ferricenium salts, has recently attracted biomedical interest because of its pronounced antineoplastic activity against Ehrlich ascites murine tumor. In this paper, synthetic methods are reinvestigated in an effort to prepare pure(1) free from a common contaminant, diferriceniumμ-oxo-bis(trichloroferrate)(3). Simple vacuum evaporation technique for deposition of dyes on various solid surfaces has been developed. The method is compatible with conventional solvent-free nanofabrication processing enabling fabrication of nanoscale optoelectronic devices. Thin films of fluorescein were deposited on glass, fluorine-tin-oxide (FTO) coated glass with and without atomically layer deposited (ALD) nanocrystalline 20 nm thick anatase TiO2 coating. Selective recovery of phosphorus as AlPO4 from silicon-free CFB-derived fly ash leachate

The prospect of phosphorus (P) recovery from siliceous fly ash was investigated. The phosphorus content in the pristine fly ash was 1.21%. Obtaining pure phosphorus products from fly ash is very challenging because of high concentration of other elements, silicon (Si) at 17.3% being the major contaminant. The fly ash was fractionated with sieve size of 125 μm to concentrate the phosphorus in the small-size fraction, which also facilitated the removal of 78% of silica (Si) in the solid phase. The fractionated fly ash was treated with 8 M HCl in order to remove 98% of Si by aging (5 h) of leachate until precipitation of Si-gel, and a phosphorus-rich solution is obtained.
