Metaphor as a Focal Concept in Sound Design

A central challenge in the design of non-speech sounds is to understand the relating conceptualisation process. In the current paper, we propose the use of metaphor theories as a framework to understand what sound design is fundamentally all about. In the proposed framework, we handle metaphors as conceptual entities, which are the basic constituents of meaning making.
Therapeutic metaphors and personal meanings in group poetry therapy for people with schizophrenia

This article concerns the therapeutic potential of metaphor in group poetry therapy, concentrating on the poetry therapy process of people diagnosed with schizophrenia. The data was collected in a one-year poetry therapy group. The main questions were: (1) What kind of therapeutic potential can metaphors offer in group poetry therapy? (2) What are the personal meanings and evaluations that the participants give to the therapy process and its effects on their lives? Hybrid Multi-Agent Architectures allow the support of mobile robots colonies moving in dynamic, not predictable and time variable environments in order to achieve distributed solving strategies that develop collective team-oriented behaviors for solving complicate and difficult tasks. The development of a new robotic architecture for the coordination of a robot colonies in dangerous, unknown and dynamic environment is outlined. The name of this new architecture is Metaphor of Politics (MP), because it loosely takes inspiration from the political organizations of democratic governments.
Blending in Hybrid Games: Understanding Hybrid Games Through Experience

The meaning of what hybrid games are is often fixed to the context in which the term is used. For example, hybrid games have often been defined in relation to recent developments in technology. This creates issues in its usage and limitations in thinking. This paper argues that hybrid games should be understood through conceptual metaphors. Hybridity is the blending of different cognitive domains that are not usually associated together. Hybrid games usually blend domains related to games, for example digital and board games, but can blend also other domains. Through this type of thinking, designers can be more open to exploring how their games can be experienced.

[EN] In the face of the social crisis of intimacy for the extimacy, in neurosciences, and its reduction to privacy in legal field, this article explains the orteguian idea of the intimacy highlighting its bodily character. This notion of intimacy, rooted in body, discovers the sentimental aspect of reality (lyricism), and also overcomes thingism and subjectivism through the analysis of the mechanism of metaphor and the capacity of entering yourself. Reality of intimacy is conceived as enforceability (executive reality), and represents an alternative to idealism, objetivism of conscience and psychological introspection.
