This theoretical work scrutinizes poetical aspects of writing in the web (blogs, chat, forums). The practice of writing called web prose use the elements of speech and textualize it. This brings web prose near the tradition of literature, not as art, but as style of prose writing. By using H-G Gadamer`s hermeneutics, philosophy of conversation and poetics, I ask how the tradition of writing comes in to the web. Shape optimization for Stokes problem with threshold slip boundary conditions

This paper deals with shape optimization of systems governed by the Stokes flow with threshold slip boundary conditions. The stability of solutions to the state problem with respect to a class of domains is studied. For computational purposes the slip term and impermeability condition are handled by a regularization. To get a finite dimensional optimization problem, the optimized part of the boundary is described by B´ezier polynomials. Numerical examples illustrate the computational efficiency. peerReviewed

We question the effectiveness of the two learning methods to acquire scientific knowledge and to modify learner conceptions. Do explicit instruction and structured inquiry methods have the same impact on the learning of science? Hybrid vibration signal monitoring approach for rolling element bearings

New approach to identify different lifetime stages of rolling element bearings, to improve early bearing fault detection, is presented. We extract characteristic features from vibration signals generated by rolling element bearings. This data is first pre-labelled with an unsupervised clustering method. Then, supervised methods are used to improve the labelling. Moreover, we assess feature importance with each classifier. From the practical point of view, the classifiers are compared on how early emergence of a bearing fault is being suggested. The results show that all of the classifiers are usable for bearing fault detection and the importance of the features was consistent. peerReviewed
Developing mixed methods research in sport and exercise psychology: potential contributions of a critical realist perspective

Notwithstanding diverse opinions and debates about mixing methods, mixed methods research (MMR) is increasingly being used in sport and exercise psychology. In this paper, we describe MMR trends within leading sport and exercise psychology journals and explore critical realism as a possible underpinning framework for conducting MMR. Our meta-study of recent empirical mixed methods studies published in 2017–2019 indicates that eight (36%) of the 22 MMR studies explicitly stated a paradigmatic position (five drew on pragmatism, two switched paradigms between qualitative and quantitative elements of the study, and one was situated in relativist-interpretivism).
