ChemInform Abstract: Synthesis of Pyrrolidin-2-ones and of Staurosporine Aglycon (K-252c) by Intermolecular Michael Reaction.

2010

Indolo[2,3-a]pyrrolo[3,4-c]carbazoles were isolated from nature, e.g., from low plants, especially fungi, as structurally rare natural substances. Responsible for naming and also the most important representative of this type is staurosporine (1), isolated from Streptomyces staurosporeus, and its aglycon (2), also known as staurosporinone or K-252c. 3,4-Disubstituted pyrrolidin-2-ones, a group of compounds with many interesting biological properties are related to staurosporinone. The most important property is the inhibition of protein kinase C (PKC), so that this antiproliferative agent can interfere with the cell cycle. The synthetic strategy, developed by us, allows the synthesis of pyr…

ChemInform Abstract: Base-Dependent Stereodivergent Intramolecular Aza-Michael Reaction: Asymmetric Synthesis of 1,3-Disubstituted Isoindolines.

2014

For the reaction of the compounds (I) the careful choice of the base allows the exclusive formation of either cis or trans diastereoisomer with the exception of the trihalogenates (Ie) and (If), which afford the cis-products regardless of the base used.

Diastereoselective Michael addition of (S)-mandelic acid enolate to 2-arylidene-1,3-diketones: enantioselective diversity-oriented synthesis of dense…

2006

[EN] A diversity-oriented approach to enantiomerically pure densely substituted pyrazoles, ¿-aryl-¿-pyrazolylatrolactic acid and ¿-aryl-¿-pyrazolylacetophenones has been developed. The approach utilises the conjugated addition of the lithium enolate of the (2S,5S)-cis-1,3-dioxolan-4-one derived from optically active (S)-mandelic acid and pivalaldehyde to several 2-arylidene-1,3-diketones, which proceeds readily to give the corresponding Michael adducts in good yields and diastereoselectivities. The cyclocondensation of the 1,3-diketone moieties present in Michael adducts with several hydrazines leads to enantiomerically pure densely substituted pyrazoles. Subsequent basic hydrolysis of the …

A DFT study of the asymmetric (S)-5-(pyrrolidin-2-yl)-1H-tetrazole catalyzed Michael addition of carbonyl compounds to nitroalkenes

2007

Abstract The role of the ( S )-5-(pyrrolidin-2-yl)-1 H -tetrazole in the asymmetric organocatalyzed Michael addition of carbonyl compounds to nitroalkenes has been studied using DFT methods at the B3LYP/6-31G ∗∗ computational level. For the C–C bond-formation step, several reactive channels have been analyzed. The B3LYP/6-31G ∗∗ results, which are in reasonable agreement with the experiments, allow us to explain the stereoselectivity and the increase of the reactivity achieved by an intramolecular HB between the acid hydrogen of the tetrazole moiety and one oxygen atom of the nitroalkene.

Identity and War in Michael Ondaatje’s

2012

Abstract This paper addresses the issue of identity in relation to war through a close reading of Michael Ondaatje’s The English Patient. It investigates the connections between war and the construction of identity, focusing on aspects such as violence and death. In his novel Ondaatje uncovers private histories alongside the framing events of World War Two. Kip’s perception of war and his way of living through it suggest that the engagement on the world’s battlefield is riddled with inner conflicts separating people or bringing them together. In The English Patient what is at issue is the quest for a redefinition of the self: Hanna, Kirpal Singh and Almásy attempt to liberate the self throu…

Highly Enantioselective Kinetic Resolution of Michael Adducts through N-Heterocyclic Carbene Catalysis: An Efficient Asymmetric Route to Cyclohexenes

2018

Ahighly efficient strategy for the kinetic resolu-tion of Michael adductswas realized using achiral N-het-erocyclic carbene catalyst. The kinetic resolution providesanew convenientroute to single diastereomers of cyclo-hexenes and Michael adducts in good yields with highenantiomeric excesses (up to 99 % ee with aselectivityfactor of up to 458). This “two flies with one swat” con-cept allows the synthesis of these two synthetically valua-ble compound classes at the same time by asingle trans-formation. peerReviewed

Papa Pio XII nella storia della Radiologia

2019

2.14 Selected Diastereoselective Reactions: Enolate Alkylation

2012

This chapter discusses processes in which enolates are subjected to reaction with alkylating reagents. In all the processes examined here, at least one of the two reaction components is chiral and the reaction gives rise to one or more diastereomeric compounds. In most cases, the enolate is generated through deprotonation of the corresponding carbonyl precursor with a suitable base, but in several cases, the enolate is generated differently, for example, through Michael addition of a nucleophile to a conjugated carbonyl compound. The various factors that have been found to influence the stereochemical outcome of the alkylation reaction in a measurable way are also discussed. The material ha…

Direct synthesis of C3-mono-functionalized oxindoles from N-unprotected 2-oxindole and their antileishmanial activity.

2014

A novel approach for the synthesis of unprecedented C3-mono-functionalized indolin-2-ones is reported, starting from 2-oxindole and chalcones. The reactions proceed regioselectively under mild conditions, without di- and tri-alkylated side products. The new compounds have been evaluated in vitro for their antiproliferative effects against the protozoan Leishmania infantum. Interestingly, they appear able to kill L. infantum promastigotes and amastigotes, without significant cytotoxic effects.
