Michael Field's Sapphism : an Ontology of the Feminine in "Long Ago" (1889)

2018

This article examines the valuable contribution that Katherine Bradley and her niece Edith Cooper made to the vast tradition of queer Sapphism in Long Ago (1889), their first volume of poetry published under the collaborative pseudonym of Michael Field. Taking as my starting point the well-established assumption among contemporary critics that this volume represents an original instance of lesbian writing, I seek to argue that Long Ago not only appropriates and celebrates the figure of Sappho as a lesbian archetype, it also proposes a subversive gender theory that conceptualises the feminine as the essential principle of vitalism, the masculine as the very representation of death, and homoe…

Michael Field's Sapphism: a tiresian ontology of openness between life and death in "Long ago" (1889)

2019

Blend scaffolds with polyaspartamide/polyester structure fabricated via TIPS and their RGDC functionalization to promote osteoblast adhesion and prol…

2019

Target of this work was to prepare a RGDC functionalized hybrid biomaterial via TIPS technique to achieve a more efficient control of osteoblast adhesion and diffusion on the three-dimensional (3D) scaffolds. Starting from a crystalline poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA) and an amorphous alpha,beta-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl) (2-aminoethylcarbamate)-d,l-aspartamide-graft-polylactic acid (PHEA-EDA-g-PLA) copolymer, blend scaffolds were characterized by an appropriate porosity and pore interconnection. The PHEA-EDA-PLA interpenetration with PLLA improved hydrolytic susceptibility of hybrid scaffolds. The presence of free amino groups on scaffolds allowed to tether the cyclic RGD peptide (RGDC) via Michael…

Functionalization of theranostic AGuIX® nanoparticles for PET/MRI/optical imaging

2019

International audience; A novel trifunctional imaging probe containing a chelator of radiometal for PET, a NIR heptamethine cyanine dye, and a bioconjugatable handle, has been grafted onto AGuIX® nanoparticles via a Michael addition reaction. The resulting functionalized nanoparticles have been fully characterized, radiolabelled with 64Cu, and evaluated in a mice TSA tumor model using multimodal (PET/MRI/optical) imaging.

Tandem Nucleophilic Addition−Intramolecular Aza-Michael Reaction: Facile Synthesis of Chiral Fluorinated Isoindolines

2010

A highly stereoselective synthesis of fluorinated 1,3-disubstituted isoindolines is described. To this end, a tandem reaction consisting of a diastereoselective addition of fluorinated nucleophiles to Ellman's N-(tert-butanesulfinyl)imines followed by an intramolecular aza-Michael reaction has been developed. This strategy allows for the construction of isoindolines bearing several degrees of fluorination (mono-, di-, or trifluoromethyl as well as heavier fluorinated groups). In the majority of all cases, the products are formed as single isomers.

Understanding the Mechanism of the Intramolecular Stetter Reaction. A DFT Study

2012

The mechanism of the N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-catalyzed intramolecular Stetter reaction of salicylaldehyde 1 to yield chromanone 3 has been theoretically studied at the B3LYP/6-31G** level. This NHC-catalyzed reaction takes place through six elementary steps, which involve: (i) formation of the Breslow intermediate IN2; (ii) an intramolecular Michael-Type addition in IN2 to form the new C-C s bond; and (iii) extrusion of the NHC catalyst from the Michael adduct to yield chromanone 3. Analysis of the relative free energies in toluene indicates that while formation of Breslow intermediate IN2 involves the rate-determining step of the catalytic process, the intramolecular Michael-type addi…

Microwave-Assisted Tandem Organocatalytic Peptide-Coupling Intramolecular aza-Michael Reaction: α,β-UnsaturatedN-Acyl Pyrazoles as Michael Acceptors

2014

Conjugated N-acyl pyrazoles have been successfully employed in the organocatalytic enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael reaction as ester surrogates. Bifunctional squaramides under microwave irradiation provided the best results in this transformation. Furthermore, this protocol has been combined with a peptide-coupling reaction in a tandem sequence. The final products were easily converted into the corresponding ethyl esters.

Michael Monroe – miesrepresentaation armahtaja

2013

Tutkimukseni käsittelee suomalaista taiteilijaa, artistia, elävää rock-legenda Michael Monroeta ja hänen visuaalisuuttaan uudenlaisena miesrepresentaationa. Michael Monroe on otollinen tutkimuskohde, sillä hänen ainutlaatuinen ja rohkea heteronormatiivisia rajoja rikkova tyylinsä on tuonut esille miehuuden feminiinisen puolen.

Organocatalytic enantioselective synthesis of quinolizidine alkaloids (+)-myrtine, (-)-lupinine, and (+)-epiepiquinamide

2011

The organocatalytic synthesis of quinolizidine alkaloids (+)-myrtine, (-)-lupinine, and (+)-epiepiquinamide is described. It involved, as the key step, an enantioselective intramolecular aza-Michael reaction (IMAMR) catalyzed by Jorgensen catalyst I, affording the common precursor with high enantioselectivity. This compound was subsequently transformed into the three alkaloids in a highly diastereoselective manner. (C) 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
