Cryptogein signaling in tobacco: in search for nitric oxide targets

Nitric oxide (NO) triggers various physiological responses in plants. Notably, NO is recognized to account for the response to biotic stresses. We previously reported that NO is produced in tobacco cells exposed to cryptogein, a 10 kDa elicitor secreted by the oomycete Phytophthora cryptogea. To decipher the role of NO, we identified and characterized S-nitrosylated proteins in tobacco cell suspensions elicited by cryptogein. Several candidates were identified including the chaperone-like AAA+ATPase CDC48 and a calmodulin isoform (CaM). Oxazoline functionality is well known to be highly reactive toward a lot of other functional groups like carboxyls, hydroxyls, mercaptans, and amines. In this work we report the possibility to modify the nitrile groups of an acrylonitrile/butadiene/styrene (ABS) copolymer into oxazoline in the molten state in the presence of aminoethanol as modifier agent and zinc acetate as a catalyst. The reaction has been carried out in a batch mixer and in a corotating twin screw extruder. Probabilistic topic models, such as LDA, are standard text analysis algorithms that provide predictive and latent topic representation for a corpus. However, due to the unsupervised training process, it is difficult to verify the assumption that the latent space discovered by these models is generally meaningful and valuable. This paper introduces a two-stage LDA algorithm to estimate latent topics in text documents and use readability scores to link the identified topics to a linguistically motivated latent structure. In questo articolo vengono analizzate le risposte fornite a un interessante item relativo alla Prova standardizzata di matematica somministrata nel maggio 2015 a tutti gli allievi di quinta elementare del Canton Ticino. A partire dai risultati statistici emersi da un campione di 508 protocolli selezionati, viene presentata un’analisi qualitativa effettuata su un campione più ristretto di 174 studenti di prima media, allo scopo di rintracciare le cause delle difficoltà emerse nella risoluzione. Various studies suggest that the mental illness prevalence in prison has increased from 0.14 to 0.3 from 1987 to 2014. The problem with a high concentration of mentally ill prisoners culminated when the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) was sued for the violation of inmates’ rights under the Eighth Amendment in the early 1990s.
