Abstract This paper aims to contribute towards the design of effective freight transport policy by means of empirical analysis. In order to do so, a stated preference survey is undertaken to model the modal choice between door-to-door road transport and short sea shipping in the Motorway of the Sea of south-west Europe. The proposed analysis will provide policymakers with the necessary tool to identify the critical areas that should be addressed by future policy action in order to boost short sea shipping on Spain's Mediterranean coast. Investment and Control Decisions in Foreign Markets: Evidence from Service Industries

We empirically investigate the entry mode choice in the service sector. In contrast to current models, we propose a model for choice of entry mode that breaks down the decision into two levels of analysis: first, at the more macro level, the choice of the degree of commitment is influenced mainly by country-related variables; second, at the more micro level, the choice of the degree of control is addressed by firm-related variables. When social enterprises, being defined by their social mission and profitability, internationalize, they need to\ud respond to institutional logics in the host country. Business Models and Market Entry Mode Choice of Small Software Firms

So far the critical choice of the entry mode for a target country has been examined ignoring the special features of firms. Particularly, the impact of the wide variation of business models of software firms has been ignored. This multi-case study investigates the relation between the business model and the entry mode of eight software firms. The results imply that the product strategy and the service and implementation model of a software firm are closely connected to the entry mode choice, while the distribution model of intangible software products does not seem to have impact on the operation mode. peerReviewed

The purpose of this thesis was to test the applicability of binding communication in the case of car use reduction. The first two studies (1 & 2) bring out the relationship between an individual and his mobility. Our results lead us to consider a system of double bind between the challenges of sustainable development and daily obligations. The individual recognizes the negative impact of car use on the environment but justifies his behavior by an important need for flexibility.
