On the mend of bryophyte conservation in Spain: preparing a proposal for the inclusion of bryophytes in national species protection catalogues

The Spanish bryoflora contains 1291 taxa, 272 of them included in the Spanish Red List under any threat category. Although bryophytes show a low rate of endemicity compared to vascular flora, Spanish administration’s responsibility for the conservation of these plants is very high, since the country has 63 exclusive or rare species on a European or world scale. However, the representation of this group of plants in the Spanish legislation on species conservation is merely anecdotal. Royal Decree 139/2011 of 4 February develops a list of wild protected species (LESRPE and CEEA, Spanish abbreviations) and includes only 10 species of bryophytes, all of them from the Directive Habitats and the …

Lectotypification of the spikemosses Selaginella denticulata and S. ornithopodioides (Selaginellaceae, Lycopsida)

The typification of the names Selaginella denticulata (L.) Spring (≡ Lycopodium denticulatum L.) and S . ornithopodioides (L.) Spring (≡ L . ornithopodioides L.) (Selaginellaceae) is discussed. A specimen at LINN is designated as the lectotype of S . denticulata , and a specimen at BM is designated as the second-step lectotype of the name S . ornithopodioides .

I chinoloni sono antibiotici, recentemente usati anche come chemioterapici. Tra i derivati dell’acido nalidixico, precursore di tutte le classi di chinoloni, sono stati scelti chinoloni di I e II generazione per la sintesi di derivati di diorganostagno(IV). Questi composti sono stati caratterizzati sia allo stato solido che in soluzione con spettroscopia FT-IR, Mössbauer, 1H NMR, e con spettrometria di massa (ES-MS).

Organotin(IV)derivatives neurotoxicity and their modulation by Baclofen

Several new diorganotin(IV) and triorganotin(IV) complexes with 4-amino-3- (4-chloro phenyl)]-butanoic acid ( = Baclofen) have been synthesized and their structure investigated both in the solid state and in solution phase through spectroscopic methods (FT-IR, Mössbauer, 1H and 13C NMR). According to experimental analytical data, the stoichiometry of the complexes has been proposed as R2SnBac2 and R3SnBac, respectively for diorganotin(IV) and triorganotin(IV) baclofen complexes. (Baclofen = HBac; R = Me, Bu, Ph).

Mechanisms for Translocation of Heavy Metals from Soil to Epigeal Mosses

The mechanisms for translocation of heavy metals from soil to epigeal mosses were investigated. The first mechanism was demonstrated for (137)Cs and involved the uplifting of the pollutant-containing dust from the soil, followed by the local secondary deposition on surfaces of epigeal mosses and epiphytic lichens. The second mechanism involved the diffusion of metal cations from the soil through water wetting the moss into the gametophyte. The mechanism was demonstrated by measuring the electric conductance of wetted gametophytes with single ends immersed in solutions of Cu and Na salts. Three new triorganotin(IV) complexes of valproic acid (vp1, Me3Sn-valproate; vp2, Bu3Sn-valproate; vp3, Ph3Sn-valproate) have been synthesized and investigated by spectroscopic and biological methods. An anionic, monodentate valproate ligand was observed, ester-like coordinating the tin atom on a tetra-coordinated, monomeric environment. The structures, though, can distort towards a penta-coordination, as a consequence of a long range O center dot center dot center dot Sn interaction. 1H NMR spectroscopic data of Ph2SbX, PhSbX2, and Ph3SbX2 (XCl, Br, I) have been determined by iterative simulation. 121Sb Mossbauer spectra of PhSbX2 (XCl, Br, I) have been measured. The synthesis of Ph2SbI is achieved by reaction of Ph2SbCl with NaI in ethanol. The crystal structure of Ph2SbI consists of molecules with pyramidal C2SbI units.

Abstract The heterocyclic ligands [1,2,4]triazolo-[1,5-a]pyrimidine (tp) and 5,7-dimethyl-[1,2,4]triazolo-[1,5-a]pyrimidine (dmtp), react with diorganotin dichlorides giving the addition compounds Me2SnCl2(tp)2, Et2SnCl2(tp)2, Me2SnCl2(dmtp)2, Et2SnCl2(dmtp)2, Bu2SnCl2(dmtp), Ph2SnCl2(dmtp). The organotin:ligand stoichiometry goes from 1:2 to 1:1 by increasing the steric hindrance of the organic groups bound to tin. The compounds have been characterized by means of infrared, 119Sn Mossbauer and 1H AND 13C NMR spectroscopy.
